  1. Default What is the longest time that your have had a mustache?

What is the longest continuous (contiguous ? <g>) time that your have had a mustache?

I ask because at dinner last night someone mentioned my mustache - what did I use to trim it? - and that led into someone else asking how long I have worn it - I can't remember you without it -

It made me feel a little pang of both mortality and weirdness as I thought for a minute before putting the truth into an actual number - which is forty-eight years without a single break. My mustache has never been more than trimmed back into shape in all that time.

I started growing a lip ferret when I was 16. It got me tossed out of high school on a number of occasions (never shaved it, just snuck back in and avoided the ast principal until I got caught again).

I shaved it off once about 30 years ago and SWMBO blew a gasket and back it grew starting the next day.

So except for a couple days when it went "MIA" I have had one for the past 45 years.

I'm also under that same category.... I've had a moustache since I was able to grow one..... if you can count the downy peach fuzz of a 16 year old as a moustache..... I'm 49 now... so that's a few years. I think I have worn a handlebar since I was first married- that's about 25 years now.

I've never had just a stache but I've worn a goatee for about 8 years now without doing anything but a trim. I couldn't imagine being completely clean shaven now.

It is now 31 years for me & my beard and very sparse except for the mustache area.

I shaved it off when I retired 15 years ago to a BIG uproar, so I grew it back! Now that it is all a white / grey except for the mustache area, seriously looking at trimming it back to goatee status or take it off for a few months.

I've had a mustache and beard for the majority of the last fifteen years.

30+ years - my wife and kids had never seen me without it. I shaved it about 2 years ago. Just last week my wife commented how she gets a weird feeling looking at pictures where I have it. She's adapted to the new me.

I've been sporting a stache for the past 5 months. For the past month and a half or so I've been waxing it into a handlebar. I really like the look, but I'll probably have to trim it or just shave it off soon. It's driving me a bit nuts.

I've had a mustache for over 45 years. I don't remember myself without one. There were a few years, in my college days, when I had a beard, too, but the mustache came first and outlasted the beard.
    My mileage does vary.

I've had one most of the last 40 years. But when it started getting too gray, I cut it down to a goatee. When that started getting gray and white, I cut it down to a moustache. I cut that off a year ago, too, but I really hate shaving my upper lip. So I just started growing the 'stache again. I'm lucky to have a wife who loves me no matter what facial hair I choose to have or not have and who lets me choose!

I grew mine when I was 16 . . . it got me into the bars with the 18-year-olds who could drink legally back then! A fella named "Drill Sergeant" made me shave it off to participate in something called "Basic Training" but I grew it back as soon as I could and have worn one ever since. At 55, I don't think I would be "me" without it!

I had a goatee for about 8 years before I shaved it off last fall. I grew it so that I would look older when I worked retail. It seems folks were more likely to take a salesman seriously when he looks older. I dabbled between beard and clean shaven before that.
