Default Can anyone identify this razor?

It's my brother in law's, a gift from his brother in 1975. Think it came as part of a set, but he only has the razor now i think. Top simply says Gillette. My apologies for the poor quality photo, i took it with my phone as the cable to my digital camera is not to hand.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Dave.

as with most gilletes, a picture of the shave head from below, where the handle connects to the shave head might give some more detail as to the shavers model and age,

    Looks like an English Tech.

Looks like a Tech for sure...

But not sure where it was manufactured...

Should give you a good (mild) shave...

    Try it...

The bottom simply reads " s 4" it could be a 5 and a 4, but this seems unlikely as one number would be upside down. Top says Gillette, NO diamond around the name. It is not a British Tech; the bottom doesnt have that bobble shape that a Tech has. Also, note the criss-cross pattern of the grip. Can't match it to anything in the shave wiki...

Try www.collectorsencyclopedia.com. Run a search for Gillette.

Might be a non Gillette handle. All the 3 piece razors that I've come across including the Merkurs use the same 10-32 threads.

It looks like a Tech, there are several different handles... If I am correct the one in this thread is exactly the same.

Is the handle solid and heavy or is it light and aluminium? If the handle is heavy, you have got a British version of the tech here. I have got such a razor, and it is still a British one, even without ball-point.
Is the country of origin written below the data code?
The date code "S" would place it either in 1947 or in 1972. I think that 1972 is much more likely. Most important thing for identification is whether the handle is aluminium or not in my opinion.
