Default I just received this as a gift and know nothing about it

A friend of mine has noticed my RAD so picked this up for me.

I know nothing about this type of razor, the type of blades they take, etc. Anyone that can shine some light on this for me would be much appreciated it. It appears to read Schick Eversharp patent 1937.

It's an injector. You can buy blades for it at most Walgreens stores.

They give a really nice (yet effortless and unsatisfying) shave.

yep, its an Injector razor ... they come in different models ... someone else can identify whether this is a Type L, G or whatever.

After you clean it up and get rid of the green junk, get some blades, be prepared to waste the first blade you put in ... the first one will always land crooked. Just push it out with the next blade in the pack, and the second blade should sit square and solid and ready to shave. From that point on, every other time you load it should seat itself squarely.

It's a type G injector, which is one of the more aggressive shaving injectors. If you've never used one before, do some reading up on blade angle and technique.

Thanks everyone for the information. I am going to read up on it, clean it up, and try a shave with it. It is very different from the DE's that I have acquired over the last few weeks, so I am very grateful to the friend for thinking about me when they had seen this.

It has 1 patent number instead of 2 that the G has, it is a Type E injector...

I learned to shave with a schick injector. In the late 70s, early 80s, they would give you a razor with a pack of blades. I haven't used one in years. I seem to recall a good shave with them though. Took one to boot camp, put it in my foot locker, never used it. Used a disposable and threw it away every day. That would have been in 84. Haven't used one since.

She was told it was from 1937, but I am thinking that they only said that because of the patent date on it. I love the Bakelite handle and just that it is an old cool piece.

No ...I made a mistake, it has 1 patent but made in CANADA, the type G injectors with 2 patents are made in USA and are also in conjunction with Eversharp. so its a type G Eversharp Shick 1946 injector.

The satisfaction doesn't come from the effort put forth, but from the overall experience. Injectors are just "too easy" for some guys, there's no challenge.

And your timing is perfect. This is the last week of Schickuary!

I just started with the injectors this month. Really, really nice shave. The blades are pricier than most DEs, but are thicker and seem to last longer for a lot of folks. If you have difficulty finding blades locally, PM me and I'll drop you a pack. Schick and Personna still make them.
