My dad has had a full beard as long as I can remember, and there is photographic evidence that he had a beard before that. He has never used aftershave because of this. My paternal Grandpa wore AV Blue. I was at a drug store not too long ago and came across a bottle of store brand that claimed to smell the same, one whiff confirmed that it did. I keep it around for when I miss Grandpa. This is a neat thread.

My dad never really shaved and kept a full beard, so I have no real A/S directly associated with him. He did wear Aramis and Polo colognes though, and those are forever linked to fond memories.

Remembered scents are strange. My father always wore Old Spice and Canoe and I loved the smell. When I was 16 and started to shave I tried the Canoe and hated the smell, but liked it on my Dad. When he passed away many many years ago I was helping separate his clothes for donation and smelled it on his jacket he wore all the time. I realized that is was a combination of scents that I liked and not just the AS. It was Canoe, Brylcreem, Viceroy cigarettes, Lifebouy soap, Corn Huskers, cedar from his wardrobe, etc, etc. They formed an amalgamated scent that defined him to me. Each individually I don't associate with him in a strong fashion and they smell thin and cheap. Together.. I feel he is standing in the same room.
My Dad used Mennen Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva Blue, and Old Spice. The Old Spice was reserved for his Sunday shaves. My Dad died in 1974 at the young age of 63 and I still miss him to this day.
Still taking nourishment and breathing.
English Leather. I still think of him every time I use it.
Everything that Avon made. For some reason the ladies in my family gave the all the men Avon aftershave and colognes on special occasions. He must have had every kind and shape at one time or another. Family was very important to my Dad and being the kind soul that he was he diligently used the gifts. He did keep Mennen Skin Bracer in his travel bag.

Me dearly depated Father's (of whom I've always thought of as great teacher and gentleman), aftershave was Clubman AS, in which he showed and taught me how to use (besides teaching me how to shave...in his own way ["The Zen of Shaving"], when I was a 'young pup' and fondly remember he gave me a Gillette razor [don't remember the type or have it...must of got lost 'in the shuffle'], a Ever-Ready Brush, Williams Soap, an Old Spice mug and Clubman AS).

Thankfully, my dad is still here and doing well at 88. He was and still is an Old Spice guy and so am I. I like other AS as well, such as Pinaud Clubman and Floid original, but everytime I smell Old Spice I think of my dad.

I would have to say for my dad the two scents I always remember from childhood is Old Spice and Williams Lectric Shave. Those two always take me back. Now I got him into using the Nivea balms.
I fondly remember dad always using the Lectric shave and then splashing on some Brut.
Hattric.
This is a childhood memory from the 1970's, he moved out when I was 8.
I actually don't know which one he uses these days, I never asked.

I know that my dad used to have an old bottle of Old Spice, but I never remember him using it. The scent that I always remember my dad using was English Leather.
