Default Lord L6 or Concord for a starter?

Gonna get my friend (its a woman) a razor for her B day. She likes the idea of doing things the old fashioned way and liked my modest collection, so I gather that the Lord L6 or the Concord would be a good starter for her. She has her grandfathers early Gillette in a case but doesnt want to use it for her own sentimental reasons.

So what do you think is more lady friendly?

I love the L6 head, and I would buy it for that alone, but I do hear that the Concord has a better handle. Still, go L6, it's a better shave.

I'd go L6, there are a lot of ladies on here using it. You could be really nice and get the Concord too and throw that handle on for her.

I am joining the buy them both crowd. You can order both from NTGUY, and it should come out to less than $30 with shipping.

Here are links to both items at NTGUYS store:

IMO the L6 is a good razor, another one you might wish to consider is the Feather Popular. It is easier to load, has a pretty long handle, and a very nice feel in the price range. Women often shave in the shower and a TTO may be a better option for changing a blade in the shower. Anyhow, give it some thought.

I would recommend the Lord L5 (Tech clone). IMO it would be ideal for leg shaving due to the long handle and more comfortable head (L6 is great but a tad bit more aggressive for leg shaving). The Concord would be cumbersome for leg shaving because it's got a steel handle and would promote adding pressure to the shave.

I chose the Concord over the L5 because the fit and finish were better. It does have a steel handle, but it's hollow so it's not that heavy - it still weighs less than a Gillette Tech, although the handle is a bit longer.

My wife uses the L6. Alternatively, there's always the Lady Gillette; it's a TTO that's designed for women.

I have both and there are reasons to like both of them.

I posted my findings in this thread (don't be put off by my initial impression of the shave of the L6)

I have not used either on any other area than my face so it's hard to make a suggestion for a lady but the concord seems a lot less sensitive to technique.

I'll go with both as well. See my post below, but you might find a Frankenrazor gives you the best results.

I really wouldn't worry that the L6 is too aggressive. It's a really well-designed head, and even with a heavy Parker handle on mine, I had to be doing something really stupid to cut myself.

The concord/lord combination might not all have frankenrazor potential you would expect.
The first L6 I recieved has a short thread stud on the head and deep thread start in the handle.
The second one has longer on the head and less deep in the handle. 2nd handle works fine with both heads, first one is not good enough for either.

I only have one concord so I can't judge their consistency but the only frankenrazor I can make is the concord handle on the 1st lord head.
2nd lord head does not screw all the way in the handle, both lord handles are threaded too deep for the concord head.
