    Default MWF has me confused!

I can't for the life of me figure out how my face can feel softer and more moisturized after dragging a 4 shave old blade over my face for two passes than it did before I started! I bought MWF a couple of weeks ago and got about seven shaves in with pretty mediocre results. I was bowl lathering and just couldn't get the right consistency, no matter what I tried. I had honestly started to accept the fact that I might just be one of those people who MWF doesn't work for. I was trying to decide whether I should PIF it or how much I should ask for it on the BST.

Well, I finally stopped being so hardheaded and followed Mantic59's method for lathering yesterday and what do you know, it worked. (Seems to be a common theme with my shaving experience, once I stop being stubborn things go well). This was the first time I had ever face-lathered and I really enjoyed it. This was also the first time that I got anything close to a lather and my face felt awesome after my shave. I was a little skeptical, maybe I got lucky, so I tried it again today and had another fantastic shave. I definitely think that MWF will have a permanent place in my den. I'm really glad I didn't give up on this soap.

I gave up on it and sold it.

Then got tired of hearing all the praise it got and decided to give it another shot. This time without buying that expensive damn bowl it comes in.

Now I'll never go back. I soak the whole puck before each use and load the brush heavily and have had no trouble whatsoever getting lather out of it like that. Good, slick, thick, creamy lather. The stuff is amazing and I'm very happy I gave it a second chance.

+1 a great soap...glad you got it figured out. i had no luck with the Mantic method, but do have excellent results with the Marco Method, which for me seems to work with all my soaps and hard creams.

i have been using a puck for a couple months now (rotation) and liked it so much, i ordered a ceramic dish and refill (which came in today as a matter of fact).

great soap and performs as well as any high priced soap.

try using the extra lather on your face while you clean up your brush/razor then do you rinse and a/s routine...it's splendid.

That's my favorite part.... Rinsing after shaving has never been so magnificent. I enjoy doing that with Musgo Real too.

Facelathering is the best! If you like the 'after' feel of good lanolin soap, you might like shea butter too. Consider Institute Karite and Provence Sante.

Gotta love da fat! Mantic hit it with the face lathering . Great lather, slick and just plain enjoyable shaves.

Dunno what all these "methods" are for lathering MWF. I opened the box, put the puck in a bowl, dribbled a bit of water on it, soaked my brush, and bowl-lathered up a storm the very first time.

MWF introduces me to the concept of "face lathering" and now I face lather almost every time I shave. My skin feels great every time after using THE FAT!

For my face, shae butter and other butters leaves my skin a bit greasy post-shave. MWF on the otherhand leaves absolutely not greasy feel, just soft and supple.

+1. I found it rather easy to lather with MWF. My only difference is I use slightly less water than some other soaps.

Chris and Jim, this is actually the first soap I've tried (well this and some mama bears I bought at the same time) so I don't think my issues are with the MWF itself, moreso with soaps in general. I was having some issues with the MB also, I guess this method is more a shortcut so I can at least get good lather from one of the two instead of mediocre from both while I improve my technique.

Here's the short-form version of the Marco Method: "open the box, put the puck in a bowl, dribble a bit of water on it, soak the brush, and lather up a storm"

    Welcome to the Fat!

This is fantastic for me in the winter as it seems to moisturize my face and provides a fantastic lather. I too started face lathering after watching the Mantic video. I have my puck in an old spice cup, so just soak the top of the puck and just the tips of a boar or finest badger brush.

Recently I've bowl lathered a couple of times and had a great experience which was different from my early tries. Here's what I'm doing differently. I moisten the puck, instead of the brush. While showering I place an inch of water into s short glass and soak the tips of the brush and then give a few good shakes - so I'm working with a almost dry brush. I dump out the water from the puck and load lots of product.

MWF can actually hold a lot of water, but it has to be added gradually, a half-teaspoon at a time. When you receive a shiny lather that will hold peaks your MWF later is ready.

+1, I actually like my MWF lather to be really watery. It is an absolute must for people with dry skin, particularly during winter. This stuff lasts forever too. My puck has been going for a year (in rotation with two other soaps), I am getting really low though...will be ordering soon.

Those of you who gave up on this soap, try mantic method and you would be amazed how much slick, thick lather you get. MWF will be in my rotation permanently.
