    Hi All,

I'm a section chief for comm currently stationed in Greece. It has been a roller coaster ride the past 14 years and I recently found out I will be promoted in March. It has taken me 9 years to get back overseas and I am hoping to make the best of it this go around. Not that I didn't make the most of my Germany tour, but interests change and all that.

Thanks for the great opportunity. I'm an active duty Marine currently stationed in Okinawa and will be here for the next two years. As you might imagine, obtaining shaving supplies on the local economy can be a bit difficult and the PX just doesn't stock much beyond the standard cartridge razor (Mach 3, etc) fare.

So in afghan they have absolutely nothing but regular cartridges, and thats if they have them.....So I'm doomed to an electric for the most part while I'm here :/

Are you still doing this? Are you accepting donations? I'm new and still very much in the trial and error stage with soaps, blades, etc, and I'd like my extra stuff to go to anyone serving overseas. Am even willing to buy missing parts of kits for these guys. I like the fact you restrict this to overseas duty, they are the most deserving. PM me, if you wish.

Is this still happening? I have some blades I'd like to donate, and I'll get a styptic pencil while I'm at it, too :)

    Cap,

Thanks for putting together this thread. I'm an active duty Army infantry officer (10 years, 4 combat deployments) serving overseas in Jerusalem for three years on a program called the Olmsted Scholarship. Essentially, the program sends military officers all over the world to learn a language, then earn an MA taught in that language - I'm learning Hebrew, and next week I'll start a 2-year Public Policy master's degree taught in Hebrew. My brain will be melting out of my ears very shortly.

About a month and a half ago I picked up DE shaving to reduce/end my ingrown hairs. It was a bit bloody at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I currently only have a Merkur 180, but I'm looking to expand.

I've noticed, though, that many (although not all) folks both in the B&B marketplace and the 'bay won't ship outside of CONUS. I suspect that this is because of delivery confirmation, but it makes it difficult when I see all of these great razors out there that I'd like to try, but almost invariably the seller prefers not to ship to APO/FPO (DPO for me)! I can honestly say that with over 7 years of overseas assignments and using the APO/DPO system I've never had a lost package. Any thoughts?

    Cheers

I am currently Afghanistan, RC East, vic. Kwost Prov. I have been in since 1983 when I joined the reserves. Went on active duty in the 90s deployed to OPS Desert Storm/Shield and also did a short tour in Honduras(JTF-Bravo.) Got out went back to college and was commissioned in '98. Since '98 I have been stationed in Korea, and CONUS with a tour in AFG and Iraq. Getting close to hanging it up, my fun meter is just about pegged...

Getting close to hanging it up, my fun meter is just about pegged...I started traditional wet shaving in '10 while in Iraq, my buddy and I were bitching about the cost and quality of the Gillette series "wonder razors," and once I started I have not looked back. I have converted a few guys here and there, scared some folks with a straight razor -- the old "aren't your afraid of cutting yourself?" Never mind we carry rifles and pistols around everywhere and usually manage not shoot ourselves.
