Default B&B Members Active Duty PIF. The reboot

The B&B Members Active Duty PIF

PIF: Noun, Verb. Acronym meaning Pay It Forward. We do something for you, you do something for someone else when you can.

This is not a contest. Anyone who meets the requirements below is eligible.

The Rules You know there had to be rules, that's just the way it is.

This is open to the following:
    1. Active Duty Full Time U.S. Military, any branch, stationed anywhere Outside the United States.
    2. Active Duty National Guard and Reserve units stationed anywhere Outside the United States.
    3. You may post for relatives or friends who meet the above 2 requirements.

    More rules:
    4. I will ship ONLY to APO/FPO addresses.
    (this is to eliminate fraud)
    5. You need an Active Duty Badge which you can get by posting to the Active Military members check in~ thread linked in my sig below, then joining the Active Duty User Group at here http://badgerandblade.com/vb/profile...editusergroups; note:you have to join the User Group to get the badge. If posting for friends or family, you don't need the Badge, but I will still only ship to APO/FPO.
    6. Post in this thread. Tell us a little about yourself: where you're stationed, what you do, how long you've been in.
    7. After getting your Active Duty Badge and posting here, send me a PM with your name, rank, APO/FPO and what you need.
    8. I can send anything I have from some blades, brush or soap, to a full blown kit (minus the kit bag).

    What's available?
    1. DE razors. I currently have about 40-50 vintage Gillettes plus a few modern DEs.
    2. Well over 1,500 DE blades of various brands.
    3. A bunch of soaps and creams.
    4. A selection of brushes, mostly badger in various grades, with a few boar and horse hair.
Where did all this stuff come from? Do you think I'm made of money?
This started out many moons ago as a one time PIF; 1 kit for 1 soldier. Then someone asked me if I would accept donations. Foolishly, I said yes. Then someone else asked the same thing. And all of a sudden I had enough gear to send out kits to the 5 folks who responded, with a lot left over. Feeling guilty about keeping the leftover gear, I created a PIF open to Active Duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now I'm opening it up to all Active Duty U.S. Military stationed outside the U.S. Most of what I have to send, probably 75%+ has been donated by the good members of B&B. One exceptionally generous member has donated over 1,000 blades and many soaps.

Side note: I have never served in the military; I lucked out in the Vietnam era draft with a high number. My user name comes from an old nickname when I was the sound man for a local punk/new wave band: Captain P. Overboard.

This is awesome! I've seen more PIF's on B&B in the last couple of days than most boards I've been on have in a year. I'm stationed in the US so not partaking in the PIF, just wanted to say how impressed I am.

I've slowley been converting my fellow Marines to straights for like 3 years now. I don't think I could turn Dow the chance to get my first DE for FREEEE though. Woot woot!! I hope I don't get the DE bug though.... Straights are expensive enough as it is.

Hey, I'm jaimeaux, and I'm stationed in Afghanistan right now with 5th Marines as a Data Network Specialist. I've been here for about 4-5 Months of what's expected to be a year long deployment. I've been in for about 3 years or so.

I work for MrHump and he introduced me to the world of straight razors and wet shaving, and I will never look back.

Currently serving in the Southwest Asia AOR. I'm almost at the halfway point of what is expected to be a seven month deployment when all is said and done. Air Traffic Controller working liaison for the host nation. Not a glamorous assignment, but a necessary one.

I have managed to convert one more to the darkside while I've been out here though, so it hasn't been a total loss; one less man buying cases of 5-bladed face scrapers a month is a win in my book ;)

Currently serving in Kuwait, after having closed out Iraq. I have about 6 -7 months left before it's time to go home. I'm a JAG Officer working with a Combat Aviation Brigade. Thanks for all the support you're providing to us!

I'm a Combat Controller in the Air Force, and even though I'm currently here in the States at Pope Field, I just wanted to stop by this PIF and thank both captp as well as the rest of the B&B community. It's very easy for people to act like animals with the anonymity that comes with the Internet, but this forum is a great example of how a few kind words and actions can really make a difference. Through the numerous PIFs and help threads, dozens of servicemen have received items otherwise out of their reach, while thousands of others have received friendly advice that helps make the start of each day a little better. It is people like you that give us the drive to put in the hard work, so that we can continue protecting the free world. When we're homesick and need to be reminded of why we're doing whatever it is we're doing, we think about the people back home holding doors, pulling out chairs, and generously giving as you all do - that is the golden image that gives us that energy to suck it up and push on. No matter what a person's nationality or position in life is, they can make a difference just by taking that extra step, as you all do on here. Whether you're an American or not, I want to thank all of you simply for being the people you are.

Love the support with a great PIF! I'm AD air force and have been for just over six years now. I've been to Iraq twice and am currently in Korea for a while. Just got into wet shaving about two weeks before leaving.

Default Ok so now I truly feel like an idiot...

thinking I had a great PIF idea for an active duty "bundle, I gathered up and photographed the bunch of items below - razor, sticks, sample creams and soaps ASBs, blades and even grabbed a 1/3 - 1/2 tub of Trumper's Coconut (not pictured).Click image for larger version.

Hey, facetime, how about if the next soldier to respond to this thread gets this. I'll get his info to you and you can send it on yourself. Don't want to hog all the Karma for myself. Looks like you lack a brush. I'll send a brush to the next guy if you send him that set.

    Great set there.

Hi guys I am not Active Duty but my entire family is (I was medically unfit to enter the Naval Academy out of High School, born with only one kidney...went to Australia and played pro rugby to prove em wrong, but I digress) My grandfather served in the US Navy during WW2 and my pops is Ret. as a 29 year USN Capt O-6 (Vietnam, Desert Storm, Kosovo). My brother on the other hand is the one I would love to have a kit sent to....He is with Special Boat Team 20 in Virginia...every year or so they get the pleasure (ya right) of being away from friends and family (he just got married to his better 3/4) for over 8 months...I am very very proud of what he does...basically they take a 33ft hard bottom inflatable boat bristling with guns and pack them up into the back of a C-130, fly over the nearest area where there are big mean baddies and push the boat out the back then go jumping out after it. video and here

He is deploying to Guam for the next 8 months starting this summer (not sure if that means he is disqualified for this PIF) and as you can see from some of the videos that they do a MANLY MANs job of protecting this country and deserve to shave in the manliest way possible!

    God Bless America

    Facetime and Captp,

I may not be a Soldier, however I am deployed to the Middle East on a routine deployment with the Navy. I have responded to Captp post originally. Being a newbie to traditional shaving I have fallen in love. So much so I am trying to convert others in my unit to traditional shaving. I have a couple of Sailors waiting for my next razor to arrive so I can pass the one I have onto them before they purchase on.

Thank you for you support and generosity.

    R/
