Who else has been playing the open beta this weekend? Anyone else even MORE excited for the release than they were before?

Good LORD I can't wait for May 15th. I was pleasantly surprised by the monk class, and feel that the witch doctor will be pretty awesome at high levels (like the necromancer was in d2) but the wizard is going to be my first character when I get my hands on my CE copy.

My first choice was going to be a Barb, but I think I might give the Witch Doctor a chance as my first character. Looks like he performed really well at low levels, too. He's just too cool not to like!

What did you think of the Demon Hunter? I thought the rapid-fire skill was pretty cool, but unless she gets a lot stronger in later levels, I see her as being an average mash-up of the bowazon and trap-assassin builds.

I haven't played her in the beta, but from watching gameplay vids, I think they might've designed her to be too many things at one time. She never caught my eye as a playable character that would be decently strong at all levels. Could be totally wrong on that, though. Again, complete speculation.

Yeah, that evasive fire skill (and its backflip) looks like it could be good for getting foes to follow you into traps while still keeping up the assault, but the traps would have to be pretty great.

I played it a bit this weekend. It seemed to be everything I would have hoped a modern Diablo sequel would be. I think I will probably purchase it when it comes out.

Oh believe me, 72plym, I know :) I'm counting down the sleeps until the d3 release.

    If, on the same day:

    - Rooney released a unicorn-horn handled Stubby 2; and
    - Feather released a blade that was silky smooth (like a 4-shave-old Feather is) right from the start; and
    - Merkur released an adjustable slant sledgehammer DE

I'd still be more excited about D3 coming out in 11 sleeps' time.

It took me time to get used to the RPG gameplay, but it made me forget about D3.

+1 Although I find the controller to be less precise with consoles, at least you know it will always be able to play the games without having to upgrade everything.

Have to disagree there- I can't get 3 good shaves out of a Feather. Day 2? Sure.

I admit that after the beta weekend I broke out and installed Diablo II and expansion. Been playing for nostalgia's sake while I wait for the new one. It's still pretty fun. lol

I was thinking about installing D2 (+ LoD) as well, Drybonz, but I decided to keep playing The Witcher 2 for one more week, after which it will never see the light of day again.

8 more sleeps :D The servers go live here at 5pm on Tuesday, so I'll be leaving work @ 4 to get home and install it, so I'm good to go right away.

    I'm very excited.

I was irritated... missed the beta's and then saw my PC is just below the minimum specs for playing it.... Crap now I need another processor or a whole upgrade would be better just to play a game. Oh well I guess I'll stick with my D2 Mods for the time being

    Drag, Craigar.

Yeah I survived 8 years with just my old comp (upgraded the RAM and HD a couple of times) until a definite release date for D3 was confirmed, then went right out and bought a new PC. I didn't want to buy a new PC when it was rumoured D3 close a couple of years ago, only to see it under-specced when the game was actually released.

Go upgrade - you won't wanna miss this game :)

Dang it! I've had a couple unexpected expenses come up (car and home repair) and my new PC build was put on the backburner for the time being. I'm sure that the initial release of D3 will be overrun with server issues and various bugs so that'll bide me some extra time, or atleast that's what I keep telling myself . Not trying to jinx you guys or anything

Yea right...my luck, the thing will be utterly perfect, start to finish, and every gamer on Earth will be pointing and laughing at me for not buying it immediately!

5 sleeps - 4 days of work to get trhough.

I can't wait for quitting time (4pm) on Tuesday. I've not been this excited about a game since, well, ever. Even Skyrim didn't stir this level of anticipation in me.

Well... I went and built a computer. :)
    i5 2500k w/ Hyper 212 Plus Cooler
    GTX 570
    8 GB Ram
    128 GB
Bought a new 24" Asus 1080P LCD/LED monitor as well.
I did play the open beta, got through it with a Barb... was very fun. I played through with a DH prior and she was entertaining as well. I never played a true melee character in D2 (I did beat D1 with each class) so melee was very different for me. My go to D2 character was an Zon or Sorc.

Sounds like you're all set to go, then.

    Can't wait! :)

Planning my lack of sleep already. :)

How did you guys choose to buy? Digital download? Amazon? GameStop? Walmart? Target?
I got mine from Amazon (I have Prime so it's release day delivery and I have to work so no point in getting up for midnight pickup). My brother did the digital thing which I think can be pre-installed at some point.

My question is, why even have a "release" for software if the servers won't be live until May 15th at Midnight west coast time? Can't they just let me download/install the client prior and activate it for server access? Seems pointless to wait to install it. Afterall if I have the final version on May 8th or May 15th and can't access it until May 15th what's the difference...? Just means it will be more load on the servers to download and install instead of spacing it out over a week or something.
