    one of my buddies with a ducati 1198 was telling me how the zx14 wouldn't handle..... i kept it right on his butt in the curves and would shoot past him on the straights... when we got back to the dragon inn... he said "guess i was wrong about that.... ".....

    *(to be fair a rider with a similar skill level to mine would leave me in the twisties on that 1198............ but he ain't my skill level!!... )

    exactly. its all about rider skill. and thats why tons of accidents happen at the dragon. they over compinsate there ability to ride. and keep up with others and pass. and end up going off.

    Just sold my 06 ZZR600 last year, been to deals gap on it before with the lady on the back. Until the snow stops and spring comes, I'll have to stay on my YZ125 dirt bike, or the 700 Raptor 4-Wheeler. They ususally get me through the snow season without being too bored.

    I don't ride *yet* but I do have a project bike taking up space in my best friends' garage. A 1983 Suzuki GS60gl (shaft-drive) is awaiting funds and nerve to be rebuild/restored to be in riding shape. This will be my first bike.

    I'll play! Right now I've got the following but only pics of 2 of them;

    '97 Harley Springer (it's been "messed with" a bit...)
    '06 KTM 950 Adventure (ultimate "do it all" beast!)
    '74 Yamaha TY250 (I used to do a bit of vintage trials a few years ago.)
    '82 Honda CR480R (resto planned on this vintage ass-chewer!)

    I ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250. This isn't mine, but it looks exactly the same. I got it in 2002 and love it. I have wanted to upgrade for awhile now, but life has gotten in the way and I just dont have the funds. But she is alot of fun and gets me where I am going. And I tend to outride guys on bigger bikes anyway.

    I own a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. My first and only, though someday I will upgrade to something nicer. Its just further down the road a bit. Sadly she needs some work right now and I won't be riding till I find the time and money to fix her. With my wedding coming up later this year, who knows when that will happen...

    A number of years ago my dad and I rode through the gap together on our way from Indiana to FL (we took the long way...). That was a fun trip, but we kept things nice and easy through the gap because we were loaded down with all kinds of gear on our bikes (I was coming home from college for the summer...).

    My first vehicle was a motorcycle, and it was years before I graduated college and finally felt the need to own a car. I wouldn't have it any other way!

    I have a cbr1100 blackbird. Nice big bike with plenty of power though compared to modern street bikes not quite as fast, 183 mph is still plenty fast enough for me though.

    Salt is bad on steel, but even worse to aluminum.
    It's also HELL on wiring. I could ride with salt down and hose the bike off every night, but that would drive salty water up into the wiring harness, and that would end up being a DISASTER eventually.

    That
