I was wondering if most of you had a daily beater and then a nice setup for special occasions?

I use a Merkur Futur all the time. Weddings or just a weekday shave before work the Futur does the job.
I'm not big on saving "good" stuff for special occasions generally, especially after a family friend had passed away and had lots of clothes and shoes in their wardrobe unused which she had bought and was saving for that "special day".
I have several razors but I only use an old New. It gives me the best shave, although I do want to try an Old type.

Duotone I could not agree with you more. I'm not big on saving "good" stuff for special occasions generally, especially after a family friend had passed away and had lots of clothes and shoes in their wardrobe unused which she had bought and was saving for that "special day".
I have a couple of DE's, but most of the time I use my Merkur 1904 OC for my DE.
For my straights I use either the Kai Captain, or the Feather AC.

I have daily shavers... I use all of them in the same order on a regular basis!

Was a 40's style superspeed. Got a Merkur 34c a couple weeks ago that is my new goto razor.
No I use all my razors all the time. I have a few favorites like my Futur and Slant but nothing I hold back for special occasions.

I'm really loving my Merkur Progress lately.

I like to just grab the one out of the collection which I feel will scratch the itch for that day.

My daily shaver is a feather portable. Great razor!

Like Luc, all are daily shavers, some are just more daily than others!

I use a 1962 and a 1965 Lady Gillette exclusively. I love the Ilona handle on that razor, and the shaves are near flawless.
I used to use my '59 Fatboy, but it doesn't shave as well as the Lady Gillettes.
'59 Fatboy,'53 SS,'40's gold fathandled Tech,'65 Schick Eversharp.
All of mine do get used but most days my trusty Slim gets the nod just because it treats my face so well !
Enjoy Your Shave !
I don't have a daily shaver but have 3 or 4 hollow ground straights that see 90% of the action.
I have 3 Merkur razors. Vision 2000, Futur (2 of them), and Progress.
The Vision 2000 gets used 95% of the time because it just feels right in the hand.
The others get used rarely but often enough that I want to keep them around. One of the Futur razors is my travel unit as it is pitted and ugly and I don't worry too much about it..... but..... would hate to lose it.
I have a birth date/quarter black tip and the old Gillettes that I purchased new in the 60's, 70's, and 80's but they have not been used at all since getting the new Merkur razors.

I've been using my EJ DE86 daily for the past 2 1/2 months.

I am just wondering...what would be the logic of having a special razor for special occasions? If it gives the best shave and you like using it, why would you not use it everyday? Same goes for a brush? The only thing I could see saving for a special occasion is if you got some soap or cream that was discontinued or cost $1,000 since that is an item that sooner or later would be used up and gone.
Heck no, I use nice stuff or normal stuff on any given day. In shaving land even expensive consumables last quite a long time so there's not much sense skimping on them. Hardware doesn't wear out so why not use nice items often? If one really wanted to treat themselves they could do some additional face prep or perhaps use a pre-shave product.
EJ89 every day, it's pretty much perfect
