No, the 100 was first, then the 100N (N=new or neu) and there was an overlap after 1938 where both were produced.
The 100N has a smooth tapered turning knob and is just slightly longer. I should have realized yours was a Model 100 when you asked about cork, the 100N had a plastic seal.

Yes indeed!! Carhartt field type jacket, ALWAYS seem to end up with 5 or 6 on me for some reason!!
