What's new

A rare(?) one in the wild

Does anyone know anything about the Gold Manufacturing Co. Military Razor? A quick Google search found zip. Here are some pics. It's a cool design. The head is spring loaded and clamps the SE blade between the top and bottom plate. I threw a modern SE blade in there but I have no idea if it's the right size/shape/configuration.

I have heard of it....The Gold Manucfacting Co. New York, thers atleast 2 types of razors. One is gold finish w handle same as Gillette Pocket Edition, Double edge thin blade w notched ends. it flips open . It is cased w 2 containers and 2 bladed cases marked Dull & Sharp. 1918 circa. You have nickel plated one in black case.

I hadn't seen it. Thanks. The SE and DE seem to use the same mechanism for loading the blade. Same patent date even.

Mine must be for the grunts. Nickel plated and just the razor and two blade cases (the "SHARP" case went AWOL, apparently).

Gold Mfg Co also made Daisy SE's and the College Safety Razor. They were located at 112 West 42nd.

Mine isn't a "military" version. But I am happy that the plating is in such nice condition. All of the original blades are too rusted to use though :-(

Here are a couple pics of mine. More pictures are here

Very nice razors ... thanks for sharing the pics.

Now I know how I ended up with more SE razors than DE razors - they look & shave great!
