    Default Body shaving

I know this is a topic that most probably don't want to discuss, but it's important. I have been searching on amazon for longer than I wanted to and all I am left with is the back and forth of reviewers having half great reviews and half bad reviews basically for each trimmer/shaver personal grooming tools. All I want to know is what is the best for shaving ALL personal areas below the neck and every great review had 2 disapproving reviews that almost went with it for the braun products and philips norelco products on amazon, even the mangroomer which I have heard good things about, has bad reviews that makes me doubt the good ones therefore I am left with not knowing what's the best and won't break or have the multitude of other issues talked about in the reviews and I have wasted a great deal of time trying to find such a tool. Someone please help.

No matter what the product is someone WILL have something bad to say about it.

Look around and make the best choice you can. A few weeks ago a friend of mine (it's really not me) got a vasectomy and he said when they did a little bit of extra "trimming" they used Remington beard trimmers like what they sell at walmart.

Don't read individual reviews, just look at the overall balance of positive versus negative.
Half the reviewers don't know what they're talking about, half have hidden agendas and the third half are complaining about the customer service they got at the store instead of the focusing on the product itself.
    Just call me Chris.

Thanks very much. That's great advice to keep in mind and will help a lot. I appreciate it. Do you happen to know anything about personal grooming shavers yourself?

Seth Godin taught me that everything remarkable will have a critic. I don't worry too much with review as long as there seems to be a positive trend then I find that I'm generally happy with the product.

I had a mangroomer before and it wasnt bad but this one is just so much better and gives u a lot of different options. AFter looking at quite a few I chose this one and cant imagine finding a better overall body groomer out there

Surprisingly, The bump fighter brand razor and blades is an excellent choice for wet shaving the 'other places' on the body. While the Bump Fighter isn't marketed for this, the preforated blade design works perfectly and safely in these areas.

However, YMMV, and swim at your own risk, lifeguard not on duty and that sort of... thing. :)

A big +1 to this. Sometimes when I look on Amazon, and other places like Duluth Trading, if I see a great product with a few negative reviews I will read them. Overall, they are idiotic things like, "Even though I loved this book I ordered a hardcover, and they sent a paperback edition of XXXX book!" and they will give it 1 star. So take a 3.5 or 4 star review with a grain of salt, especially with the internet's dregs on review boards.

As for your question, a friend of mine (again, not me) asked me about manscaping, since he knew I was getting into pogonotomy. He asked me for advice, and I told him a Lady Gillette Venus. The pivot neck tends to pivot easier than a men's Gillette Fusion (ech).

I use an old open comb gillette and it gathers hair. Just give it a few rinses every other pass depending on how much hair.

Dont look for body hair trimmers. Just get a good electric clipper, like they use at the barber.
I burned out a 'bodygroomer' in about 6 months.

Which electric clipper would you recommend?

I don't know about day to day, week to week maintenance. But when I was swimming I used a plain old gillette tech clone to shave my legs. Previously I had used a mach 3, but this required me to buzz down the hair with a trimmer first, otherwise the razor would clog pretty easily. However I found a DE razor didn't need to have months of hair trimmed down first. It just mowed everything off by itself. Saved me a lot of time and frustration.

A DE might not be the best solution for other certain areas, but I wouldn't really know, I do know however that's probably the best solution out there for legs. With a mild razor like a Tech and its many clones you don't have to be super careful which is also a plus - just look for one with a long handle.

I just went to CVS and got one that was about twenty bucks.
I know there are ones that cost a LOT more, but those are for daily use by professionals.

this looks awesome. i've used several electrics for bodyshaving for many years now, and i can assure you that it comes down to the texture of your foil and the size of the shaver's head. this one seems to have an excellent foil and a perfectly sized shaving area.

The thought of using an electric trimmer there scares the crap out of me. I use barber shears and a straight razor.... I guess that might terrify some of you! Both the shears and the razor (disposable blade type) came from Sally beauty supply. The fun part was telling the snooty girl behind the counter what it was for... now I don't have to go in there with my wife anymore... YUP.. planned it that way!

Phillips Norelco 2030. I think it's more maneuverable than the 2040..
