After a fairly frustrating exp. with one of the vendors on here, not at all their fault, I decided to give this place an order. Their prices on what I was looking for were very reasonable, and shipping was cheap too. Order was shipped right away, and packed superbly. I will be ordering from here again. Glad I found them.

Straight Razor Designs is run by Lynn over at Straight Razor Place, and when I've dealt with him he was always very professional and from what I can hear he can put a scary sharp edge on a razor. I definitely will be giving him a try when my razors need honing.

The only experience I have with them is that I sent them a question about one of their products and they didn't respond.

I bought my honing setup from SRD. Great packaging and quick shipping, plus Lynn Abrams is a real nice guy.

I've used them on many occasions. Prompt, professional service every time. I even had a small issue with a product, a new one was shipped the same day.

Well, then I don't like their tactics and I won't buy from him. It is wrong to have a forum for open discussion but not actually let the discussion be open. What if the vendors on this board and the site owner got together and decided to ban anyone who mentioned SRD or SRP, or any other outside vendor? That wouldn't be very fair, would it? And so, because the person providing the service or product is just as important to me as the actual product or service, I don't care how well he hones or how good his prices are or how well he packages and ships and responds to inquiries. I simply will not deal with him at all. He does not deserve my business.

There. A negative review of sorts on SRD even though I have never done business with him. All because his open forum isn't really an open forum where members can give their honest opinions. Anybody think I am wrong? And there is a difference between being a nice guy and just being nice to paying customers. He doesn't sound nice at all, to me. And SRP doesn't sound like a very nice forum.

I can't wait for Larry to get some more 30mm Chinese silvertips in. I think I need another Big Daddy strop from Star Shaving, too, come to think of it.

Interesting. I've been on SRP for a few years as well as here, and I haven't known that to be the case...or any worse than any other forum.

Me too. There have been people banned here that run over there and talk a bunch of mess, and people banned over there that come to B&B and talk a lot of mess. If you don't like a forum's rules, then don't use that forum. It doesn't speak to a man's business or character just because he chooses to support one vendor over another. SRD used to be a fairly popular vendor around here, and got consistently good marks. Of course, YMMV.

Slash--no need to re-hash; just do a search and you'll find more info than you want...

My first blade/strop/hone purchases were through SRD and I had a perfect customer experience. My purchases from WCS, Benton, Italian Barber and others have ALL been equally positive, as has any buys from members of either forum. I know there's a "history" at play, but I'd bet that just applies to tenths of one percent of the probably 20 to 30 thousand dual-registered members.
I appreciate pretty much EVERYTHING shaving related at this point, and pretty much EVERYBODY has been super helpful and encouraging--these are some great communities we got going!

Did I mention I had a GREAT shave this morning?

I am glad to see that you don't rush to hasty conclusions based on little to no evidence and suspect sources. James.
