I Think I Won A 1934 Aristocrat!

I won a 1934 Aristocrat on the bay today. It is either a 1934 model according to Achim's website or a 1936 model, but I don't think so because the case in the auction looks the same as the 1934 (even though it is beat up).

Really excited to get this one.

I am not sure what the seller means by this description...hoping this is not a major issue: The razor opens as the handle turns but to close it, it has to be wound and then pushed to open (not sure if that's how it works or if it's worn). All 3 pieces show some wear.

Yes he did, but he still outbid several other people. I'm not feeling very flush at the moment, so although I wanted it I did not bid to win.

The seller doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable about razors. I can't imagine if the TTO works fine in opening, that it wouldn't be the same in reverse. I took a bit of a chance.

Mattface, the funny thing is that I had put it on my watch list about two hours before the end of the auction and promptly forgot about it. I looked at the clock later and thought I had missed it, but when I got back on ebay, there were 17 seconds left, so I just quickly put in my bid and hoped for the best.

I have a #15 that has the dropsies. I need to push up the knob to open or close, can't remember which. Doesn't detract from shaving with it one little bit and there is a fix using a pipe cutter that has a dulled cutter.

Congrats, it a fair price for a great old razor.

Besides all that I might have already had a bid in on another one

@ LiveOak I'm pretty sure the problem with that razor is that the bottom TTO knob is lose, the retaining ridge that holds it in is worn, so when it's loosened it drops out of the razor and you have to push it up to open the doors. I've seen a clever fix described where where you modify a tubing cutter to blunt the cutting edge then run it around the ridge at the bottom of the handle to press it tight again. I have accomplished something slightly less slick to accomplish the same thing, though not without marring the ridge.
