Wow...sorry about your loss. Definitely, a little common sense from the seller could have gone a long way.

Looking at the envelope in the background, it looks like it was on the ground at some point. Probably got run over, or stepped on.

It breaks the heart. I sent a PIF out in a small USPS priority mail box, just right for a couple of razors, $5 and some change.

I'll only ever ship them in the box having seen that.

What was shipping for this "secure" package?

In fact, I have two Slims that are excellent shavers but are not too pretty. They have been replated but were a little pitted, so didn't come out as nice as I would have liked. I'd be happy to swap one for your broken Slim. At least you'll have something to shave with, if it helps.

    Good luck anyway.
That is a classy move. I'll use your services in the future because of it.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words! I just want to give everyone an update on my Buyer Protection case with eBay. The seller escalated the case to eBay customer service. Within 25 minutes, eBay customer service ruled in my favor and issued a full refund of the purchase price and the original shipping charge!

My suggestion to anyone shipping a razor is to always use a corrugated box and bubble wrap. I always ship razors in new 4" x 4" x 6" boxes. These are available from Uline for about $0.21 each and only add one ounce to the shipping weight so a razor can still go First Class.

I've gotten razors (and more valuable items) that were stuffed into envelopes.

Had a few arrive empty too (ripped open and contents gone)

    Good outcome. Lessons to learn-

    1) Beware of ebay! Try to make the BST work for you.

    2) Ship in a box- https://www.usps.com/ship/priority-mail-flat.htm
    8 5/8" x 5 3/8" x 1 5/8" Priority Mail Flat Rate $5.20

I'm glad it worked out for you and so quickly too. I had to wait over a week for a decision. Do you have the send the razor back to the seller?

Another seller has learned the hard way that he is responsible for all loss and damage during shipping, hence sellers are encourage to purchase shipping insurance.

Here's an eBay page about shipping

Glad to see it worked out. Stinks that the Slim is toast, though. Slims are my favorite.

I'm still trying to understand the reference to "across the pond" ?? - looks like Wolf is from Ilinois , did the razor come from Europe ?? at any rate I think Onotoman was on the mark - if we assume it left the seller in one piece, then damage of this magnitude points to USPS - I don't think Ebay should even be involved unless there's evidence that the seller is unethical - but how would you prove that ?? - I think it's always a "buyer be ware" situation whether it's Ebay or the local used car lot.

I can give a recommendation from personal experience if you're still interested in a Slim - go with "cedar" man on the Bay - he gets top dollar but he delivers quality and packages very well - but then again you can't predict what the shipper does ! -- good luck !!!

Best advice in this thread - skip eBay and buy from the BST. You'll pay a better price and get a better quality product, and the seller will stand behind it 100%.
