Just picked up a DLC to go with the ARC I picked up a couple weeks ago. I'll figure out which one I like best and see if somebody here wants to take the other off my hands.

The ARC shaves GREAT, but I'm not liking the looks of the ARC finish as much as I thought I would (A little bland). The contrast of the DLC is sort of appealing...I'm OK with losing a measly $5-$10 or so on a whichever one I get rid of just to be able to have first hand experience with which is better.

I bought a DLC this morning too (with a bulldog handle, and an extra classic handle). Not too worried about the handles but sure hope the head has no imperfections as I am OCD about that stuff.

I'm bummed they aren't selling the DLC head standalone! I was one who got an ARC in the last batch and was hoping I could just snag a DLC head to go with the bulldog handle that came with the ARC. If anyone wants to make a deal with me on this let me know.

It can't hurt much to get a DLC with the classic handle - that way you have an extra SS handle to mix-n-match with your other razor heads, present/future, assuming RAD continues

I'm actually interested in just getting the bulldog handle, I'd be willing to split the cost of a razor with someone and split the head and handle. I'm not sure if we would come out ahead though in terms of all the shipping costs, but if its a win/win I'd be down.

Just placed an order for the DLC, I sure hope they continue to sell the ARC head alone in the next batch.

well crap, I just caved and ordered one too. Going to give it a run for the money alongside my Feather AS-D1. Two razors will enter, only one will leave (most likely). Will be interesting to see which I end up liking more.

Likely it will result in having to also purchase an Ikon.....just to be sure.

sorry to repost this but can anyone offer any insight as the the diameter of this handle compared to the edwin jagger de89 handle? I just want to know if it will fit on my razor stand, mine just barely fits my ED89 on the bottom with a little wiggle room. I just want to know if the two are comparable.

When I get home from work I can check for you if no one else does. I believe the EJ89 is a little greater in diameter, but it's not much, if any.

Oh man I hope not. The feather is almost perfect, but it still has a tendency to leave a bunch of stray hairs behind on my neck and jawline that multiple passes at various angles just can't get. Shimming it seems to help it's efficiency, but also seems to add a lot of blade chatter to what is normally a very smooth shave. I'm hoping the Weber adds just the right level of aggressiveness to get that efficiency with the same level of smoothness so I can more reliably get a baby smooth shave without as many passes

As you can see they are very very similar, moreso than I realized.

wow, ya they are a lot more similar than I was expecting as well. Those pictures are perfect, thank you so much for taking the time to put them up. That is exactly what I wanted to know.

Glad to see Weber back on track with their various product offerings. I have the "original" DLC/Classic combo and it has a permanent home - it's just a very, very good "auto-pilot" type of razor.

DLC showed up today... unfortunately after I had already shaved. Off the bat, I can tell the ARC has superior lubricity, but the DLC is easily superior to your standard finish.

Personal opinion: I think the DLC LOOKS better.....and tomorrow I'll see which shaves better. My money is on them being indistinguishable.

Got my DLC w/ Bulldog handle today. Looks like there is still some minor quality control issues with the cap. Nothing major on mine, but some small barely noticeable "wrinkles" along the top of the cap to one end. Had to see in normal bathroom light, I probably only noticed it originally because I opened the package outside. In the pics below its not even visible in the bathroom light, just some scuffs to the finish are all that's visible. And even when I turn the flash on, you can barely see it (far right side along the middle of the cap).

Gonna give it a spin tomorrow with a 7 o'clock black and see how it performs.

Also, that head looks dead sexy on the Feather AS-D1 handle. The matte finish on the handle really complements the two tone look very well.

My ARC head turned up yesterday. It had got stopped at UK customs so I got clobbered for VAT and their admin charge. I only bought a head for $40 and Weber put $70 on the customs declaration meaning I got stung for the full amount.

My head wasn't terrible, but it has a few wrinkles and scratches on it. I have a 'first generation' DLC head to compare it against and there is definitely a difference in finish between the two.

Well, firstly to give credit to Weber. They responded within a few hours to my email and have refunded me the excess customs charges so that's good. They didn't respond to my points about the finish of the head though.

In respect to the head, mine isn't really badly scratched but it certainly isn't flawless and if it was a UK company I would probably be asking to return it. As it is I just cannot be bothered to go through the faff of returning it to the US and possibly incurring another set of customs charges on the return. It won't affect the way it shaves of course, but it's still annoying.
DE shaving, and lovin' it, since May 2011.

DLC this morning with a 7 o'clock super platinum that I pulled out of my AS-D1 (2nd use). Great shave! Wasn't a fan of the T&H cream sample I tried this mornin, I think ill use some Vitos or something tomorrow to have a nice slick shave.
