    Default Which rose shaving cream?

It seems like on the searches I've done, TOBS rose cream is often the top choice. Based on my experience with their sandalwood and lavender (great shaves, mixed feelings about their scent) I'm hesitant to get a tub. I've got samples of T&H and GFT and both smell great but I have yet to use either. But putting a tiny dab on my hand and taking a whiff, the T&H smells just marvelous. It'll be a day or two before I can try it to shave with.

Anyway, for those who like rose and have tried, TOBS, GFT, T&H, DR Harris, and any others, what's your preference for a heady rose garden fragrance? Performance is almost secondary as I seem to have no trouble shaving with anything I've tried so it boils down to aroma as much as anything for me. I want something that is to rose what Cella is to almond/marzipan.

I've had the TOBS Rose and I found the scent to be a but overpowering and artificial. Great performance though.

Sadly, I cannot recommend either of my two favorites: Domenico Caraceni 1913 has been discontinued and a custom scented Bomb with Turkish Rose Oil/Sandalwood I had made by Al's Shaving. That said, I remember the GFT Rose not being to my liking... I'd contact Al's Shaving and see if he can do a custom Rose. Either that or I'd recommend the Cyril Salter Rose...

Try the Queen Charlotte Rose Otto! Holy cow, is it a powerful but very pleasing scent. And it has a good performance too.

    My opinion of course.

What about QCS cream/soap. I tried a sample of their rose and really liked it. It's a Very nice rose scent and a great performer. It's the only rose scented cream I've tried.

Edit: Cyber beat me to it. And the rose I tried was their old rose formula. I haven't tried the Rose Otto yet. Sounds interesting.

If you can find any AoS rose, grab it.

+1 on this... BUT.... unfortunately it is NOT a cream :(

I used it yesterday. QCS Rose Otto is one of the few soaps that gets used at least once a week around here.

    It's good stuff.

EDIT * * * * My bad... They do make a cream also

I agree, it was discontinued sometime this Summer, I'm down to six full tubs.

I tried a MMOC once. I've sinced switched to straight razor shaving because it was less dangerous.

I have used both the QCS Rose Otto and the TOBS rose. Clearly a YMMV, but I prefer the TOBS here. I LOVE the QCS Green Irish Tweed, though. Either the TOBS or QCS are great rose creams, though.

I just tried the T&F sample of rose that I received in their packet of samples and I have to say, I was BLOWN aways at how good it is and how much I enjoyed the scent. I showered, squirted what I thought was too little T&F into my bowl (after giving my EF super badger brush a short soak in it) and it literally exploded into lather that smelled wonderful. The test though, was how did it shave? Excellent, just excellent. Used my EJ89 with a fresh Wilkinson (German Walmart and I love them) and did three passes with some touch up. Easily enough creamy lather to begin again and do three more passes.

Have not tried the Trumpers sample I have and, frankly, I hope I hate it as the T&F is EXACTLY what I was looking for. The thing is, I'm so cheap, I'd have to find three more of their creams so I can not only get free shipping on their site but with the B&B discount, it's the cheapest place to buy it.

T&H Rose is the best pure rose scented cream I've come across (Rose Otto is one of the few QCS scents I haven't at least tried, and I'm unfamiliar with Klar Kabinett, so I can't compare). I strongly prefer the T&H to the GFT.

Trumpers is quite sweet and artificial IMHO ...I'd like to try Dr Harris but I tend to think I'd just prefer one that has rose Otto and isnt dyed pink. May have to look into Al's.

While I can't compare the T&H rose to anything else (except Trumpers which I've smelled in the sample jar but have not shaved with) it smelled exactly like a fragrant Mr. Lincoln or similar fragrant rose. In other words, it smelled *real* and not artificial to my nose. Too bad they don't make a comparable skin food to Trumper's Coral (which I also like a lot).

The QCS Rose Otto smells like a tea rose to me. I really enjoyed this sample you can read what I had to say here. BTW The Rose Otto, and Provence are the two I will be ordering on my next soap run.

I've tried TOBS and Truefitt and Hill rose, and I much prefered TOBS.
