    Default Feather Newbie

I've been shaving with a Feather AC for a couple of weeks, but my shaves are not that good yet. Righ now I do not get any cuts, nicks or irritation if I only do 3 passes. If I attempt a fourth, I'll get little blood spots... (What are those?).

So, I have a couple of questions... What is the secret to exploid the feather's full potential? I still get better shaves from my HD, Slant and M3 (Although the M3 comes with free bumps). For how long do you have to practice to beat them (I know, YMMV, but sitll)? Right now I do not have the time/space/discipline/money to get a real straight (maybe in a couple of years) and I think I will settle with the FAC.

    Any help es greatly apreciated.

P.S. I am using tabac, Taylor's Rose, MB soaps, Proraso and GFT Violet + Williams (it is amazing what this little puck can do to improve most of the creams) .

I'm far from being an expert in this area, but I have been told that the Feather AC is one of the most difficult straights to shave with. I know some straight experts will chime into better answer your questions. Good luck.

Those little blood spots....I call them weepers.

    WOW!
Gents, this Feather razor is one mighty tool! (And a very moody one, too) Thanks for your replies. Today I got the best shave so far in terms of BBSness. (I lost count of how many times I have said that over the last months). Now I am afraid I'll get bumps tomorrow. .
Anyway, I still got a couple of weepers today on my upper lip. I do not know What I am doing wrong. Maybe I am over shaving or I am using too much presure. So I still have a couple of questions...

What causes the weepers? What a are they really i.e. what are you really cutting?

P.S. From the videos I just saw, it looks like those guys are using a VEERY light touch... I'll try that tomorrow.

Not to toot my own horn, but ...

I did a review of the Feather AC. You should check it out for two reasons ... first, I attached links to just about every major "Feather AC" thread to date, including some pretty in-depth comments by Joel, and ... second, once you get the hang of your Feather, you can add your review/comments too!

It's kind of hard for me to help with specific advice, because my frame of reference is real straights, and not the DEs. But I guess I'd suggest you pay attention to having very light pressure, having as little angle or elevation to the blade as possible, and making sure to putt the skin taught.

    Mighty and moody ... yeah.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.
