Default Ever Ready UK Streamline Razor & AutoStrop Set

hey guy! just thought i'd share pics of one of the presents my missus got me,

i opened it & fell in love with it, i've never used a SE razor before, altho i have an Ever Ready 1912,
and i'm in 2 minds if i should use it, it actually looks untoched, it came with 4 Corrux blades, how good were these?
should i look for any new ones?

i'd like to no what you guys think,

there are Higher Res pics a few more in my gallery,

    regards

Awesome set, you actually have the first generation Streamline design, what I refer to as the "notchback" model due to the notched spine where the blade spring is. It also lacks the tiny lather holes in each tooth groove, and has the larger lather holes in the blade bed. One of the best single edge razors made in my opinion, and will put you on the balls of your feet if not careful.

You've got one of my "holy grail" razors right there. That was an awesome gift. Keep those vintage blades, don't use them, you can't get them back. Use modern GEM blades. Also definitely use the razor, however, the streamline is probably the most aggressive SE razor out there. Don't use it without first using your 1912 and getting used to that. Enjoy!

Congratulations, the Streamline is one of the great razors.

A word of caution: When using the automatic stropping machine, hold the strop rather tight, don't allow any slack, and when you get to the end of the stroke, go slow to make sure that the blade flips. I went too fast once and sliced a strop right in half. Happily, I got a replacement, but it was a bit of a heartbreak.

Congrats on the awesome Streamline set. That is the nicest 1st Gen model I have seen. The streamline is my favorite razor. I have a few. U can see pics of two of them in my gallery pics. For me, they are the perfect balance of efficiency and weight/craftsmanship. Built like a tank. I have one of those old notchback models too but I use the 2nd generation. I did a comparison of the two when I first joined B&B. I wish I had used Shanmans terminology now that I have seen it. You should love that razor. I haven't met very many who don't like it once they have tried it. Congrats!

As far as dating goes, it has been said here that the Streamlines were made from the late 30's to the early 50's....yours should be somewhere early in that range being a 1st Gen.

Lots of guys buy them online from Ted Pella, and they generally get the coated stainless blades. I find those to work really well. In my area they're not available from any store, so I get them online. You an also try ebay at the moment, there's a seller who has a box of 100 uncoated blades for $13.76. Note: these are the uncoated blades, I've only used the coated ones. I've got some great deals on SE blades off the bay.
