Took off work today to hang out with the teenagers before they take off for spring break: Pouring down rain for the next 4 days in Oklahoma, so it felt like a vintage old spice day.

The Roger and Gallet shaving soap is the only discontinued product that I used today. It is another quality vintage product.

    Razor: Fasan Slant*
    Blade: Gillette Ruby
    Brush: Vie-Long Beehive (Silvertip)
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Soap: Yardley*
    A/S: Yardley Spice*

I was busy today and did not get a chance to shave until bedtime. I am glad that I waited though as it gave me a chance to use the Vie-Long Beehive Silvertip brush that arrived this afternoon. I am very happy with how this brush turned out. It is extra stuffed and has really good backbone yet it also has good flow through and a soft face feel. What more could you want? The only downside is it needs to be de-funked a bit...nothing a little shampoo and fragrant cream cannot accomplish. I enjoyed an excellent shave followed by a splash of Yardley Spice. Now it is time to count sheep so I can start over tomorrow.

    Razor: Gibbs Click Pen*
    Blade: Schick Chromium*
    Brush: Vie-Long Beehive LE (Horse/Badger)*
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Soap: Yardley*
    A/S: Yardley*

A great shave with mostly discontinued products. The VL Beehive with the mixed knot is breaking in nicely and ginned up a copious amount of lather from the Yardley soap. The Gibbs razor loaded with a fresh Schick Chromium blade glided over my face and left me with a very close and comfortable shave. A splash of vintage Yardley aftershave and I am ready for the day.

It seems as if everyday there are more and more possibilities for the Monday "Mourning" shave. I just received notice that the Gillette Shaving creams have been discontinued so here are three more items to add to your "Mourning Shave" rotation.:

    Gillette Menthol

    Gillette Sensitive

    Gillette European Classic

    RIP.

An excellent shave with mostly discontinued products (marked with an *). The bakelite open comb Fasan slant was a real find. Despite feeling like something you may receive in a Cracker Jacks box, it does a fine job.

An excellent shave with mostly discontinued items. I recently reacquired a Gillette Red Tip and I shake my head as to why I sold it in the first place. It delivered a very smooth and comfortable shave.

    Cream: Nivea Mild
    Scuttle: Ladysea Two-Piece Scuttle

An excellent shave with mostly discontinued items (marked with an *). I had such a good shave with the Nivea Mild cream yesterday that I used it again today despite the fact it is current production and does not fit into the "Mourning" theme. The Nivea cream has really grown on me and I might go to that well again tomorrow.
