It was 102 degrees in Indiana this afternoon. It has been 100+ for a week. I had a few ice cold pints of Miller Lite while grilling pork chops and bell peppers. I'm starting to enjoy the heat.

Wow! Current temperature at 7:30 am is 56, with expected high of 68. Looks like it will be a typical nice summer day here.

My initial impressions of this Bourbon aren't good. Some caramel and vanilla notes, plus something vaguely floral or fruity that I can't pin down. On the palate all I get is iodine and alcohol burn up front, and nothing much at all on the back end. The potency of this Bourbon (101 proof) makes me want to put an ice cube in it, but when I do, I lose any flavor. Next time I try this one I will try it neat and see if there is anything to it beyond a cheap alcohol taste.

I think it hit 104 today where I'm at. Tonight we cooked out in the heat again. Grilled chicken sausage with jalapenos and corn. And some ice cold Miller Lite. Too hot for fancy beer. It's like a free sauna outside in the afternoon.

Spent a couple of weeks in Italy, and as a result seem to be on an Aperol (Aperol "Spritz," really), amaro, limoncello jag. Grappa may come into it, too, at some point.

I had had Aperol previously, but the Aperol Spritz (Aperol, Prosecco, splash of sparkling mineral water, and, for me anyway, an big piece of orange squeezed and dropped into the glass) has been something of a revelation.
