Eau Noire.
XPec:
Good sillage as far as I can tell. Nothing overwhelming but not wearing all that close either, a good thing to me. Excellent tenacity, which in part to me means not so quick for me to become acclimated to. I get whiffs of it throghout the day, which is something I like. I hope I did not overapply. I do not think I did.
To me sort of neuvo and/or high quality barbershop scent. Strong. Not in the sense of Clubman, but something not floral. Medicinal is one description that fits. Reminds me a bit of Douro without being Douro much at all. Fairly unique. To me, without having tried to study it as carefully as I should and probably will eventually, nice sharp opening (some citris; some lavender?), that tranitions fairly quickly to a nice masculine dirty funk. Not one I can readily identify as one of the traditional ones such a civet, etc.
Anyone out there that has a clear view of what is in this scent? I have not gone on-line to search out reviews to see what its maker/other users say about its ingredients.
To me what is most attractive is manly and sense of high quality ingredients.
Actually wearing Pinaud Eau de Quinine Hair Dressing today, which is unusual for me to wear as hair dressing rather than as an after shave/scent. Nice blend with the Xpec. Old schoolish.
Yesterday wore Aqua Velva green "Sport" available, not available, at least now, in the States. I got a pretty big bottle in Canada. One has to put a lot on to keep it going as a scent, but I really like this one. I understand the appeal of regular blue AV, but I do not end up wearing it much. This one I am happy to wear.
I forget whether I posted, but to a big meeting I wore Pens BB. I still love it. Still seems like a great scent with a suit when one wants to seem competent and maybe appear professional class. Wore Mecca Balsam on Friday, I wind down but hectic day. Wanted to be calmed and feel detached/mindful/meditative. It worked. I forget what I wore other days last week and whether I posted. Sorry if any of this is a repeat!

Creed FV. So far all i'm getting is the smell of wet pampers. I'm hoping the rose starts to kick in soon.

I've spent half the money I've earned in my life on wetshaving, tobacco, booze and music. The other half I've just wasted.
When I ordered my jar of "unscented" XPEC shave cream they sent me the regular one by mistake. I noticed it imediately upon removing the lid and I did not like what I smelt. Their shaving creams are the best there is in terms of performance, but if I want a scented lather then I will add my own frag when I build it. There are very few scented soaps or creams on the market that I care for so I try to buy unscented ones now.
I wouldn't say "overpowered" so much as I'd say "blended in with." The rose is most definitely there, but in combination with the oud and davana (which I love) the composite is a low key yet incredibly opulent scent. To my mind, this stuff screams "upper class" but it's discreet about it.
Hermès Eau d'Hermès
Habit Rouge. J'aime beaucoup.
God loves you so much, that he made you read this, just to let you know.
Man, this is a tough forum! Very equivocal and perhaps esoteric IMO. It's difficult enough for me to describe tactile things like lather feel, scritchiness, scratchiness, bbs, or good or bad smooches. I promise to visit again if I smell something worthy of a comment though!
Wait a minute! What if my lack of "scent'ual knowledge is what's really affecting the quality of smooching I'm experiencing. Whoa! Lemme read some of your posts on fragrances after all!
Wishing I was back on the AT.
Today: clubman special reserve cologne
