I ride a motor scooter most of the time. I get between 80-115 miles to the gallon when I do. On those rare days that I drive my old beater of a car, I get 8 miles to the gallon, YMMV, mine sure does.

This is a new Bornean oil that Taha's just introduced, and man, it's a good one. The opening is what makes it so interesting. It's soft, rounded, and somewhat fruity, but not fruity like a Cambodian oil. Rather, I got notes of honeydew melon & vanilla along with the hallmark vapory quality of a quality Bornean oil. The fruitiness subsides within 1/2-1 hr., leaving behind the classic, vapory, minty, Bornean drydown of fresh, green wood. In fact, to my nose this oil's drydown is nearly identical to Oriscent's Borneo 3000, and B3K cost substantially more than this (when it was still available). Any of you who coveted B3K but didn't buy it should jump on this oil NOW, while it's still available (I'm looking @ YOU, Andy!).![]()
Wow, i'm very much looking forward to your thoughts on this one. As well as a few of your frags for the upcoming week.
No kidding, Randy, thanks for the run down Ivan!
One of the all time best!
This one by Le Labo, has been getting a lot of play around here recently!
One could spend years looking for the perfect Rose note, or for that matter any note, and only when you think you have found it three weeks later much to your dismay, you come to the realization that you haven't found it after all. In all the years that I have been wearing Floral themed fragrances I have quit looking for that one perfect Floral note, as I have come to the conclusion that much to my dismay I don't think that it exists. So therefore I have settled on the closest fragrance which I think has given me the note structure that best exhibits what I have been looking for.
This fragrance has a light woody opening which is adjoined by a Floral component that forms an accord that only is a little tell tale hint of what is to follow. The heart of this fragrance reveals a Rose note that is not matched by many other Rose fragrances that I have ever worn. It's bold, yet not so that it is off putting, and yet is so well blended with notes of Aldehyde's, and sweet notes of Honey, Ginger, and that big fat Rose takes stage. On the dry-down you have an arrangement of woody notes of Vetiver, and Cedar along with a hint of Oak Moss. So we have a Light woody Floral opening, a Floral heart, and a noticeable woody dry-down. This makes me ask myself what more could I ask of a Rose fragrance? Is this THE perfect Rose fragrance? I don't know. Is this The perfect Rose fragrance for me, well yes it is....IMHO

Cuir Chypre

I'm finally getting around to trying this unapologetic leather and oakmoss mukhallat from Taha. Perhaps because I love oakmoss and leather I feel no compulsory desire to demand an apology but this is certainly a deeper/darker version of Oud Chypre. In fact, smelling the oil straight from the bottle prior to application I thought it smelled too much like Oud Chypre but after application the differences - and similarities - were apparent. At first I didn't smell anything leathery at all but within seconds I could detect a slightly stinky barnyard note and I wondered if the choice of oud for this one was different from the OC. I had to dig up some archived web pages but found that indeed OC used Borneo oud while CC used Indian, explaining some of the added stink. Not a lot, but a touch to give it the beginning of a developmental difference. Later a prominent leather note appears, an obvious and sturdy leather and at this point CC smells distinctively different from OC. As oud notes warm up and take over, the leather notes become less distinct but still there, giving this a nicely balanced profile that is more leather than wood. Unfortunately, I didn't notice much of an improvement in the oakmoss but I do find this to be a darker, richer version of Oud Chypre.

Acqua di Parma Colonia. Love the initial spurt, not as keen when it settles down, love it again as it starts to fade.
Made an inexpensive blind buy based on a recommendation on Basenotes and I like it!

Its a nice frag, but a little too sweet and floral for my taste. Would love smelling this on a lady friend.
