    Default 2 band question - Thater/Semogue

Recently I got a new Thater...thought about getting it in two band but I wasn't sure if it was for me, so I went with the regular silvertip instead.

Here's the thing: I don't like scritchy brushes, I can't use "pure" and "best" badger brushes, or boar brushes because they burn my face. I only face lather now (with soaps and creams), so soft tips are a must.

I do like brushes with "backbone" though (like my Rooney 1/1 and this new Thater) and my interest is piqued by some of the discussions around two band brushes.

So, given this info, do you think I would like a 2 band Semogue SOC badger with the cherry wood handle, or a Thater with the 2 band fan shaped knot? I have pretty much ruled out the Semogue LE badger due to reports of it being very scritchy on the face.

I doubt you'd like Semogue Finest. It definitely has some scritch to it.

The Thäter 2-band, on the other hand (if you can find one).... scritch-free. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine.

Franz, to clarify, by Semogue Finest you mean the hair in the SOC badger?

I may have to get a Thater 2-band eventually.

I think that would be a little too big for me as I tend to like smaller brushes. Looks great though and Rooney makes a great brush. Love my 1/1 super.

You are right there, the Thaeter two-band is the softest I have ever felt, and it is really scritch-free. The Semogue has quite a scritch, very similar to the TGN knots.

Very interesting...how would you say the Shavemac D01 flat top knots compare to these?
