Many razor blades have the glue on each side that keeps them secure in the packaging. How do you best remove the glue before putting the blade in your razor? Or do you not worry about it?

and it starts once again.....the glue wont hurt you, so I say leave it. But thats a personal preference, you can scrape it off but be careful not to catch the blade edge

Nick Rivers: Hillary. That's an unusual name.
Hillary Flammond: It's a German name. It means 'she whose bosoms defy gravity'.
Nick Rivers: I'm pleased to meet you. My name's Nick.
Hillary Flammond: Nick? What does that mean?
Nick Rivers: Oh, nothing. My dad thought of it while he was shaving.

I use my old blade to scrape off the bulk of the glue. The glue really doesn't bother me and most of my favorites have glue spots.

I find it easiest to simply avoid the Russian blades.
Brian - I think it would be totally inappropriate for me to even contemplate what I am thinking about.
Just leave it. I've been using mostly PPI blades in my EJ DE89 for over 6 months and there's no sign of the glue/wax on the head.
You could, of course, go to the search facility, enter "Glue Spots" and check "titles only" and you'll find tons of previous threads that discuss this subject and you'll find all you ever wanted to know about glue spots.

The glue is a PITA, but removing it isn't worth the bother, IMO.

Most blades these days have glue, including all the ones out of PPI, but they certainly aren't the only ones
Here is my theory:
Back in the day when all blades came in dispensers, or at least most blades came in dispensers, glue wasn't necessary. Now that blades come in boxes, the glue helps them stay in the wax paper without moving around too much because they don't have a center bar to help them stay in position. Personally, I'd take glue dots over dull blades any day. It's true that some sharp blades don't have glue, such as Kai, but by and large most of the sharp blades have glue. Also, knowing Gillette, they wouldn't go through the extra time and cost of adding glue if it didn't make any difference. Why add an extra step if it serves no purpose? Surely that would have been eliminated by now, especially through the plant consolidation recently.
Personally, I just leave them alone. They get cleaned away with the soap scum from time to time. This issue seems to come up all the time and some people seem to despise them. Although if anyone has ever tried to remove blades from a 40 year old dispenser, glue dots pale in comparison as a challenge to be dealt with

That is literally too funny! Looking at the time of your post and the time of the last post in the numbers thread, these were likely both on the first page for a time a couple days ago! It could not have been orchestrated better!

I used to try and wipe it off but now I dont bother,I do put glue side down in all my razors not just the 3 piece.
I don't bother about them.
It is just soap, hot water and a sharp blade. It isn't rocket science or a Zen ritual.
