Default My first DE shave and it was awesome!

Well after tiring of spending so much money on Fusion blades, somehow I ended up finding these forums a while back and after much lurking, asked my wife for some shaving gear for Christmas. She and my daughter bought me a bunch of stuff including an EJ89 with the barley knurled handle which is a nice piece of hardware. Anyways I was a little timid at first but then after no mishaps on my first pass, I was really into it. I had two small nicks on my second pass which I used the Clubman nick stick on and they stopped bleeding immediately but stung like mad when applying. I was using an Astra SP blade and both my wife and I feel that it's the closest shave I've ever had which is saying a lot for DE shaving as it was my first shave and only WTG and XTG. The Clubman Pinaud aftershave smells awesome and my wife loves it too which is a bonus. I'm officially converted to DE shaving now. :)

That was me 2 months ago! Used an EJ DE and Pinaud aftershave too.
I converted after my first DE shave...the rest is history.

Dont be to hesistant, the EJ89 series is the smoothest razor your gonna find, you have to actually work hard for that thing to bite you. Feathers are a different story iMO, they really bring this razor to life. And I get an occasional bite on my mustache area if Im in a rush. Other than that, have fun with it!! I love the look of the barley handle, I had the EJ89L The lined handle, just upgraded to a bobs razor works 3 1/4" "improved" handle. It actually made the razor even better! I didnt know that was even possible. So, if you ever feel the need to try another razor, I would Highly recommend trying one of his handles on it, makes it a totally different feel, which is awesome!! Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!!! :)

Congrats on entering a whole new world of shaving: where a mundane chore turns to a luxurious hobby! Guard your wallet and hunker down for the razor acquisition disorder.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome guys. I'm happy to be a part of this community and looking forward to tomorrow's shave. It's something to look forward to instead of an everyday mundane task. Better and cheaper don't usually go together but I feel they do with DE shaving. :)

I guarantee a month from now you'll love it even more once you drop the bad Fusion habits (i.e. slinging a razor around your face fearlessly) and learning your technique. Good for you.

I usually can't wait to shave! Or anything shave related! Changing blades, cleaning razors, cleaning boar brushes, etc etc. I remember how absolutely frustrated I would get, when I would see how clogged up my brand new Mach 3 razor cartridge would be after only a few shaves! That used to infuriate me, how expensive they were, and how no matter how hard u tried, u could never fully unclog them! On de's, u just unscrew them and rinse them off, whalla!!
