    Default American advice desired

    Hi,

Now having exhaustively tested the finest English purveyors of shaving creams and soaps (namely Coates creams (Rose + Sandalwood + Almond), Trumpers soaps (rose + coconut), Truefitt & Hill creams, Kents/Mitchell's Wool Fat, I decided to turn my eye over the other side of the Atlantic. It so happens that I have a friend who will come to visit the mother country and he has offered to transport some fine American items. Has anyone got any suggestions of USA creams/soaps that I really should try.

eShave White Tea and AOS Lavender Cream are probably my favorites.

Definitely some of the QED Essentials shave sticks. The sandalwood is almost a must. The best sandalwood out there I think. I would also add the Mocha Java stick. Pure magic on the old visage. It is from the Americas but not American per se but the J.M. Fraser shave cream has to be one of the best deals out there. I'm sure you will get more suggestions!

Absolutely on the Crabtree & Evelyn and QED! Especially the Nomad or Sienna from C & E and a Rose Geranium or Grapefruit/Peppermint shave stick from QED.
Ask your friend to pick up a couple of pump bottles of Kiss My Face at Whole Foods or some organics grocery store! Very Cheap pricewise and a soldier in performance!

Both Nancy Boy creams are very nice, IMHO. And they do not ship internationally.

I second Nancy Boy creams - particularly the signature scent. :)

This is a really good reason to get some NB when you can! The other stuff listed, I believe, is sold or shipped overseas, but NB is stuck stateside.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

Ditto on the Nancy Boy, Mama Bear, and QED. These are either impossible to get overseas, or too cheap (cost, not quality) to make shipping worthwhile. Plus, they all kick ass!

As far as I know Crabtree & Evelyn are available world wide, so I will not recommend it for that reason.

Colonel Ichabod Conk almond shave soap. If you're getting Conk, don't waste your money with it's cheaper and lower quality cousin Vanderhagen. I know it's the same company and all, but Conk is way better.

The Art of Shaving lemon shave cream or shave soap. Or any other AOS cream/soap scent you prefer.

Caswell-Massey (Caswell Masochist)... Haa Haa! Just kidding. Unless you just want to say you've shaved with the worst shave cream on the planet.
    Relax...Take it easy...Enjoy the lather.

    +1 for Mamma Bear's soaps.

    In no particular order:

QED - great glycerine soaps scented entirely with essential oils
St. Charles Shave - good soaps and her creams are also quite good
Mama Bear - glycerine soaps in a dizzying range of scents
Colonel Conk - inexpensive glycerine soaps that work amazingly well
    AOS
    E-shave creams

The other thing you might want to try is some JM Fraser shaving cream and/or Booster aftershave products.

They're made in Canada and the only place you can get it in the US is here:

    Happy shopping!

I am overwhelmed by the number of responses so far, considering it has been less than 12 hours. I can get C & E products here and it is something I will get around to trying. For the Gentleman's Refinery products I am guessing that they will eventually be available in England so I am thinking I will pass this time around.

So far it looks like I will be getting:
    1) QED shave sticks - Bergamot or Mocha Java or Patchouli/Tea Tree/Peppermint or Rose Geranium (2 of them i reckon)
    2) Col. Ichabod Conk - Almond soap?
    3) Nancy Boy - signature scent?

    What exactly is KMF
What you guys reckon for this as the spoils of my first foray stateside.

    Niiiice list!
Ya might want to add the Amber scented Col. Conk too since the price of the soap pucks are very cheap.
The addition of the Nancy Boy Signature is spot on as well as your choices of QED shave sticks!
Your friend should be able to walk into a Whole Foods grocery store, The Vitamin Shoppe, or an organics grocery store and pick up a big 11 oz. bottle of KMF for only $6 or $7 US dollars!
