Default Shaving haul at the local antique stores today...

Disclaimer: does this type thread belong in 'The Score' forum?

Took a day off to go 'antiquing' with the fam today and bagged a few goodies. I was mostly looking for some vintage glass (OS etc.) to decant some AS I had picked up recently. I didn't end up finding an OS bottle but did find some other interesting odds and ends.

I passed up on a few nice razors and will probably go back and pick up a vintage Pinaud bottle I saw at one shop... Can anyone shed more light on the Barbershop Old Fashioned Luxury set? I paid $16 for the set, ~$4 for the AV bottle, and I think ~$4 for the other perfume bottle. I plan to decant some Bay Rum AS into the perfume bottle...

    Cheers!

thanks guys! what is that Barbershop brush? boar? apparently the soap is tallow based - i'm debating on using these so if you can push me one way or the other that might help... ha.

Barbershop soap is good stuff. Use it and enjoy it. Here's an old thread about some I found a while back: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/162392 .

The brush looks like boar, congrats on the nice score.
You have to use the soap, it's probably tallow based and as good or better than anything on the market today. I'm shaving with vintage Williams soap this morning. It's so rich smelling, so thick and cushiony, so slick that I wonder how it could have been an everyday product, available at every drugstore for just a few cents. So, yep, use it up.

I used the Barbershop soap back in the 80's. It is nice stuff as I recall. I would use it.

Thanks guys! And thanks for that link saltchuck... I don't know if this soap originally had some kind of scent but it's basically a musty 'old bookstore' kind of smell now. That may change if I lather up on it though... think I'll give it a whirl on my next go round! Thanks again for all the comments!
