Cleaning Question

I picked up a 50's SS today at a antique shop for $4. I thought it was a steal. It had quite a bit of dried soap on it. After soaking it in Scrubbing Bubbles and scrubbing it with a toothbrush and nail brush, it cleaned up nicely. There are a few spots of rust, most likely from the rusted blade that came with it, that didn't come clean. I think I may try using some CLR on it and see if that works. Has anyone else tried CLR, or is there something else that would do the job without damaging it?

WD40. Cant go wrong with it.

I like to use metal polish to take off rust or tarnish. You can use any kind of polish to do the job but I like Maas metal polish the best.

I use mothers mag polish it works great also a ultrasonic cleaner and a long soak in alcohol also use a soft cloth for washing and drying cars

Has anybody used the Maas to clean up gold razors, i.e. Aristocrat, Executive, etc... Wondering if it is safe.

VERY carefully - you can't use anything abrasive.


Try using a product specifically designed for gold - they're not abrasive but this may not work on the rust.

+1 on the WD40. Spray it on, let set for a few minutes, and the rust wipes right off with a Q-tip or toothbrush.

I'll have to try the WD-40. I tried white vinegar yesterday. It did absolutely nothing.
