    Default Whippeddog.com

I just sent off an order to Larry and got a quick reply only a hour or so later that the brush is set and will be shipped tomorrow. This guy just earned a repeat customer for a long time!

I ordered a silvertip 22/65 and a blue handle. This will be my first badger and I can't wait to try it out!

I'm tempted to go back and order a few more myself and my wife, who I just recently got to switch to DE for her shaving and a couple for my father and father in law.

I recently finished my first-ever brush restoration and used one of Larry's silvertip knots. Fast service, great price and the knot is first-rate!

Has anyone ordered a badger knot from both Whipped Dog and TGN? How does the Whipped Dog knot compare to Tony's Silvertip Class A knots? Just wondering before I order one. Thanks.

I would like to know about this as well. I have only gotten knots from Larry.

I bought a silvertip brush in a ceramic handle from him, and it feels very nice, good loft, could be a little shorter but very soft and nice brush with good looking handle.

    Would recommend to anyone

My first brush was a pure black badger from Larry, and it is awesome. I gave away the next two brushes I bought (from somewhere else) because they didn't stack up. And, no exaggeration, Larry is probably the nicest guy I've ever bought something from.

Larry's a great guy to deal with. Are these knots from the same supplier, perhaps? Seems there's not a lot of people making knots. Only a few sell.

First, thank you very much for the great comments above. As for suppliers, when scouting for a source of knots, I could not find any suppliers of knots anywhere other than in Asia. In my research, I read that in some areas there, badgers are so plentiful they are a public nuisance. Bounties are offered.

Hey Larry, I noticed you added some 30mm brushes & re-knotted EverReady brushes recently. Are you planning on offering restored vintage brushes as well?

My comments above were to offer thanks to you guys. I also commented about what I think is the general state of suppliers for all badger hair knot buyers. I do not want to comment about my site on B&B. I don't mix business and B&B forum pleasure.

I am sure you will understand my desire to maintain this separation...

Larry is awsome to work with for sure. I have used his knots as well as several from TGN. I would say his silvertip is very close to the TGN standard grade. Larrys knots are nice and dense but not as dense and soft as the TGN grade A. For the money they are TOP NOTCH.

    +1

I've got a brush with a TGN Silvertip A set at 50mm. It feels softer and denser than the Whipped Dog 24mm silvertip (which I've also got), but the WD feels firmer. YMMV, but I think the WD is soft enough at the tips and I like the feel better. Plus, it's 1/2 the price.

I bought strop, silvertip, pure badger knot from Larry. But I don't feel differences between WhippedDog and TGN knots. Both very fine, and good work to me. And Larry is a very helpful guy!
