So I've gotta say, I had a pretty great weekend. Took a little trip down to Denver to watch my first live NFL game (but I'm not going to get into that here). The day before, we went to a big antiques store and the only safety razor that I could find there really couldn't have been much better. At first I thought it was an Aristocrat but did a little research and found out that it's a '56 Diplomat. The razor is in extremely good shape with no plating loss that I can find with just a few light scratches in the lacquer coating on the doors. It opens smoothly but needs a little oil to get the squeaks out and closes tightly. This thing has been used but needs only a little cleaning. As for the case, it's in reasonably good shape. The pattern on the lid is there but most of the gold looks like it's worn off (I don't believe it's just dirty). There's one little nick on the edge. The lining inside is a little stained from fingers grabbing the razor but there are no rips. It came with a pack of five blue blades but from looking at pictures, I don't believe they are the original ones to this razor.
I'll be cleaning it up and having a shave with this bad boy tomorrow. I'd say this was a good $10 spent!
