Semogue 1520 coming to replace my shedding Vulfix 2234
So the only brush I have ever used (other than the cheap VDH boar I picked up when I first started) is a Vulfix 2234 a vendor gave me after screwing up my order which was a very nice gesture on his part. That was 6 years ago and that brush has served me well. Yes it is a floppy brush, but was still nice to use and did a wonderful job with soaps/sticks and me exclusively face lathering with it. But I always longed for something else although not strongly enough as I never bought anything else.
Over the last 6 months though it has been shedding worse than a golden retriever. I was getting sick and tired of picking badger hairs out of my lather/razor/sink. So I finally decided to pick something else up.
Been wanting to go the boar rout as I am a face latherer that strictly uses soaps (except maybe a shot or proraso here or there) and really want to have backbone from my brush and some scrubbyness. I am also a tightwad too so the value appealed to me as well.
Wound up ordering a Semogue 1520 that I am excited about. Went with it for the shorter loft and the extra packed hairs. Looked at a few Omega's too, but the higher density and that darn handle just won me over.
I should get it next week and will definitely get some opinions up on it.
