Default Merkur HD moves in case

Since I bought my Merkur HD (gold plated), I also bought a Merkur case for it. From what I can see, they are just the cases of the Merkur Progress. Anyway, if I put the razor in Head up, it moves back and forth, which, I think, is because the turning nob at the bottom is longer than that of the Progress (or thicker at the top), and therefore does not fit into the lower compartment. If I put it in with the head at the bottom, it does not move back and forth, but because the little indentation at the bottom is so wide (as normally the bottom of the thick handle is there) the razor can move from the left to the right, and also, the part of the lid that presses down on the razor to stop it moving is then too long, and the case does not quite close properly. Should I glue something to the top of the case, so it no longer moves back and forth or what? I'm scared that the gold plating will come off if the razor keeps shifting back and forth.

    Anyone have some advice?

Where are you storing it that it's moving around?

Sorry, but I can't follow you. The problem is that when the razor is in its case, it moves forward and backward all the time, and I am scared that the plating could get worn off.

Whether you want to invest in a new case is up to you. If you're generally putting the razor in the case when not in use at home, a little judicious padding might help. However, if you want a case you can chuck into a travel bag, this doesn't sound ideal.

If you want a better solution, you should go to a soft case, which will not be as likely to cause wear and would be better for travel.

Lee sells one for $40 here:

But this one for $11 is much cheaper and seems like it would be exactly what you're looking for:

I happen to have the $11 case from classicshaving- its a great case. However, it will fit the long handle classic like a glove, but my slant (same size/shape as the HD) is obviously too short to fill the entire sleeve. It still works, just looks a bit odd to me, kinda like a sock that's too big on your foot. But it will get the job done for $11.

My question was, "What's making your case move so often?"

The problem could be solved as easily as placing a cotton ball/pad inside the case to prevent it from moving.

Its not that the casse moves often, but if I pick it up, then it obviously moves, and then the razor inside moves too. I just wanted to know if others had the same trouble, and had done anything particular to their cases to stop it. I might try and see if i can get a piece of sponge or something like that, to put at the top to stop the razor moving.
