Looking at a Marvin watch for Christmas. Hadn't heard of the brand. A bit pricey and wanted to know if any of the watch crowd here had any experience with them.

Never heard about them before, and I used to be very active in the watch fora, but this name never came up.
Me neither. There is a couple of interesting new watch companies just going into production, that have posted on www.forums.watchuseek.com
Check out Mooren and Egard. The CEOs of both these companies have spend a lot of time on WUS and seem very nice and committed to watchmaking, selling for a very reasonable $500 or so. If this is in you budget, I'd check out their threads and consider them- you might be getting in there at the beginning of something special.
