Acquisitions for December 2011

I'm beginning to think that razor was designed for the Elephant man. A one off creation in both respects. But I still think it's very cool.

Heres an updated collection since it's been awhile since my last score post

1 Tube of Vera Wang for Men ASB

A Moss Scuttle and 40mmx125mm Coticule with a Coticule bout slurry stone.

Happy holiday gifts. This cool little travel kit, with the humble Bakelite handle Gillette Tech.


That brush appears when the handle is twisted. Seems like a synthetic material and never used.

Nice I like that Bakelite tech.

How did everyone know my tastes? It was a good Christmas. Inkwell and brass dipping pen from my wife, the other pens from a friend ( two Parkers, Schaeffer, Tuckersharpe and Esterbrook ) All the AOS from by brother in law, other soaps from my kids. And this was just the shaving/pen related stuff.

Nothing too crazy, but I picked up some Tabac cologne and deodorant, and Moos soap and AS.

Santa was good to me.
Actually I picked this Merkur slant up thinking user grade, but it arrived looking much nicer than the eBay photos conveyed.

Yesterday was the arrival of several items, despite being bought at different parts of the world and at different times!




- Simfix 404 Grosvenor Super Badger 2-band (one more for the mourning shaves! )
- Simpsons Wee Scot (what a nice little fella);
- Kimson Vu Silvertip buffalo horn handle (I'm in-love with this one, and thank you for all the work, du212);
- Merkur 37C (from a slant group-buy on another forum).

At a brick-and-mortar shop, I found one of the most obscure Portuguese shaving creams: Variante XI. Not expecting much about this one, but it was so cheap that I couldn't resist to give it a try!

A Wonderful Slant and a Mild Shavers, Gratulations for that, ive got one too.

A good day for me.
First was a pack of 200 Feather blades from Dridiot here at B&B. 11 days from placing the order to receipt and they came from Singapore! Kudos to Jason (Dridiot).
In addition, I also got my second Y3 Gillette Superspeed. I'd bought the first off eBay the week before Thanksgiving and it's been my favorite razor since I got it. I think it's a better shave than the Merkur HD I bought to get started. My first one was VG, I believe, using the Grading Guidelines here.
The latest one, from the pics on eBay looked to be as good or better. After tearing open the package this morning, like a kid at Christmas, all I can say is "WOW"! I'd rate this one Excellent/Fine to Near Mint. Here's a link to the auction.

I may have paid too much, but it makes me happy, so I don't care.

Waiting on some Tabac shave creme, a steam towel, a barber towel, and an alum block from Royal Shave. Hopefully I'll get those before I go back to work on Tuesday.

I love my Supers. They are my go to razor for blade testing. Just a great razor for me especially with Feathers. Built like a tank and seem to do everything well. Nice score Moondancer,, enjoy it.

Here's mine, I didn't get much shave stuff for Christmas.

Same here. I got a nice bottle of Trumper's Skin Food though! I only needed more razor blades and this is what I left with.

That Hart Steel Razor is a beaut!

Just picked up a Jnat, an Ozuku Asagi. Can't wait!

I know how I will start the new year.
