2 DE blades 1 safety razor

My girlfriends step dad was telling me that in his marine days that they used to throw 2 blades in 1 safety razor to shave. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this?

Seems like every once in a while someone will post about wanting to try, or hearing tale of someone who used to do it that way. The threads tend to die out with little to no satisfaction. Well, not this time, I demand satisfaction! Someone load up two blades... before I get crazy and try
Might do it just for the heck of it tomorrow. Worst thing that will happen is my first stroke doesn't fell right and I take one blade out to finish the rest of the shave

I would think what you would be doing is shimming the top blade higher. In theory this could yield a closer shave. Also the bottom blade would not touch any skin but might contact hair.

Decided to try this morning, pretty uneventful shave. I used a nice E-1 Super Speed. It's been a long time since I've used a SS, but it felt a little more mild than I remember, not that the SS is aggressive to begin with. Visually, one would have to do a VERY close inspection of the razor to know that 2 blades were loaded once the doors closed. Give it a try if you want. Anyone who thinks things like this, basically doing what's not accepted as correct, will lead to danger, these are called safety razors for a reason

for some reason my mind was in the gutter when i saw the thread name........

maybe they put 2 blades in a 3 piece razor like a tech to get a more agressive shave. even then there is no way u would see me trying it.
