I hang most of my brush's, not because I think they need to be but to save space. Personally I don't think my solution is quite as elegant as Ouch's posted on the first page, but it saves me room on my shelf for more soaps & creams. I had a coat hanger and got bored one night, what can I say?

I hang mine. I rinse them throughly in as hot of water as my water heater can generate....I SQUEEZE that water out ( not wring it out) and rinse again in same hard running water. Then squeezed agian...shook hard...and hung up to dry. I alternate brushes ( I have 4) just as I do razors.

I used a moisture meter and did a test (hanging vs standing on end) with my brush for a few days. The result? No appreciable difference. The variance in moisture content was generally within a single percentage point, which could easily be explained by fluctuations in humidity, or slight differences in measurement intervals.
So I still hang my brush, because I don't like clutter on my counter. I don't need to think about this issue, ever again. It is solved to my satisfaction and I can get on with other mysteries, such as why I bought a moisture meter in the first place.
I hang mind over night to dry and then place them on the shelf on the handles.
No. Moisture wicks upwards. Shake, wipe on towel gently, set it down then forget it.
