Question What do I have here?

Picked up a couple razors at the friendly neighborhood Antique shop. Just wondering what they are exactly and what you gents would pay for them. I payed 5.00 a piece for them so I'm not too worried about getting ripped off or anything, just wondering if my eye was good today or if I just picked up some junk. The first is a New unopened Schick. I don't know anything other than the Packaging has a 1971 date on it. The next is a Gillette Mini with date code T4. It still has the cardboard for where the blade should go and came in a little travel case. Any information, good or bad, on these razors would be most appreciated. Also wondering if I can use the Schick blades since they are sealed in the box of if that is just a bad idea.
    Thanks all.

A nice NOS Schick Krona and a late-model travel Tech. I probably would have left the Tech, myself. They're too common to be worth anything and the short handle's a bit of a pain to use.

Also, I wouldn't personally open the Krona -- it'd be easy to find another if you really want to see what it shaves like, and once you open it you can't go back.

Thanks MacDaddy, the travel tech was more so that I didn't put only 5 bucks on my card and it was kinda neat, doubt i'll ever use it but may give it a whirl just to see what its all about. Interesting advise on the Krona, not sure what I want to do with it yet, but I know I definitely want to try one out so we shall see.

The unopened Krona is awesome. Those get a lot of love. You can find them fairly cheap, and I'd be tempted to buy another and leave this one unopened, although it's not a museum piece or anything. I'm surprised you got it for so little. Usually unopened and original is a sign for antique dealers to jack up the price.

Did schick make any other DEs besides the Krona, I can't quite tell but I think that both the Silo doors are stamped Schick where the Kronas I have seen have Krona stamped on one of the doors.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but Schick made a rarely seen (like once somewhere on this board) adjustable DE and they made the Krona though there are several variants through the years. They range from the earlier variants with chrome tip TTO knobs and no writing on the doors at all to the later models which had the black plastic TTO knobs and were stamped with Schick or Krona. There is no reliable dating of Schick DE's so I am not sure anyone knows when they switched things up. I personally have the earliest version which is chrome TTO knob and no lettering. Nice mild shaver. The angle is intuitive it is said.

Here is the thread about the adjustable Schick:

Yes, there was at least one other Schick DE, in addition to the Krona variations. It had a tto dial in the center of the handle. Here is a thread about it. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...afety-Razor-ID

Interesting other schick razors... I am leaning towards keeping the Krona packaged and though this may be more appropriate for WTB I am considering purchasing a user grade Krona to add to the rotation seeing as I cannot look at one just sitting on the shelf and not go just plain mad without having one to use. If anyone has an extra that they would like to sell that let me know. I will also repost this in WTB at a later date.
