The Pomegranate-Rose bar smells very much like Favorito in the Claus Porto line, at least to my nose.

It's my favorite Yardley soap, and I like that the scent isn't overpowering on the skin

Thanks for posting this! I've never experienced these soaps before. I went to my Wallgreens and got 5 for $3! They are very nice. I'm most fond of the Coco Butter and Aloe Cucumber. I can see how these will be great for shaving as well. Very slick, foamy lather.

    Cheers!

I think we should do a Yardley Soap Trade. I'd love to try the Almond, Coco Butter and Aloe Cucumber but can't find them anywhere around here.

I was in Zeller's yesterday, and they had a couple different Yardley soaps. I got a 2-pack of the lavender. I didn't quite get the good deal that a lot of you guys get, but less than $4 for the two seemed pretty good for around here. I can't remember what the other two were, but they weren't tallow so I didn't bother. Haven't had the chance to try them yet but they smell great in the package. Also, Winners had a ton of different triple milled French and Italian soaps and some nice American made ones as well.

I'd gotten kinda' lazy over the holidays, and no longer whip up buckets of uberlather. Instead, I've taken to face lathering using Yardley. Works just fine--maybe even better--since I really "work" the whiskers. Before soaping up my brush, I add 3 drops of glycerine to my Yardley mug, then a little hot water (left to stand and cool), and go to work. Performs just fine, and gives me a real good coat of moist, slippery lather that, once worked into my whiskers, handles my R41 (w/Astra SPs) with ease. Truly a morning treat!

I opened up one of the bars I picked up last week and used it this morning. It is really great soap. I didn't use it as a shaving soap, I just used it in the shower. It is the first time I have used a tallow-based bath soap. I am really loving the tallow shaving soaps, and I have to say, the tallow bath soap is really awesome too.

I noticed in the Walgreen's ad that they have Yardley soap on sale this week for 69¢/bar, limit 3. You need a coupon, but Walgreens usually has their ads available as you walk in. The coupon is on Page 14, in the lower left corner. I have not yet stopped to check what flavors they have, other than those shown on the coupon.

Picked up the cucumber, lavender, and pomegranate rose. No petrolatum in any of them.

Thanks for the tip, 5savages. Stopped at a neighborhood Walgreens this morning and picked up three of the new scents -- pomegranite rose, cocoa butter and aloe cucumber for $2.26. Still have the circular, so I'll make another stop at another store and pick up the old favorites, too. Heck, the sale is on until the weekend. I might make several stops and stock up.

I think they changed the formulation of these soaps. A couple of years ago I picked up a few bars and relegated them to the hand soap pile because I didn't like the filmy feel of it.

Well, I picked up some more last month and it seems they replaced the petrolatum with glycerin. Good news!

I went with a bunch of Lemon Verbena because it has Shea Butter. I'm not too keen on their version of the scent, though. Still, I'm very pleased that they got rid of the petrolatum. Good, inexpensive soap!

Took advantage of the .68 cent sale and bought 5 bars each of:

    Vanilla Sugar
    Winter Spice
    Orange Spice
    English Lavender
    Oatmeal & Almond
    Cocoa Butter
    Aloe & Cucumber
    Lemon Verbena
    Pomegranate Rose

Had been using Dr. Bronners for years paying almost $3 a bar. The amount of lather you get is comparable with the yardley, however I think the yardley has a heavier, creamier lather.

I picked up some almond and lavender Yardley bars a few days ago at Walmart after doing some reading in this forum. There is already a huge improvement in how much more moisturized my skin is compared to before. I used to have really dry, flaky skin. Now it's smooth and really comfortable after just 3-4 days of use. I can't wait to try some of these other scents.

I started using this soap about two weeks ago. I stopped using it yesterday as my skin seemed drier and I was using more lotion.

I really like the Oatmeal & Almond. These are my favorite of dollar store soaps, but most of the time I just use one or another flavor of Irish Spring. I definitely wouldn't use these soaps for shaving, but YMMV.

    do they contain detergents?

I will say this, I tried the lavender bath soap and ... the scent matches my vintage sealed shaving soap tub from 1957 exactly. (yes, I opened that puck of ss and used it!) I was shocked at the tallowy goodness of the bath soap. here's hoping it does not dry the skin. What a bargain.

Nope, no detergents, just tallow soapy goodness!! Been using Yardley for a couple of months, really love it's lather in the shower. Might try to shave with it at some point. Can't hurt to try.

I tried shaving with the cocoa butter bar the other night as it also has shea butter. Even yardleys web site said the cocoa butter bar was good for shaving. For me it was a no go. The lather bubbles stayed large and airy when the brush was taken to the face. I worked it quite a while and it was slick enough, but I couldn't get the lather to thicken up to a consistency for any type of cushion. Shaved the left side of my face and neck, and then rinsed the rest off and went the rest of the shave with some Col. Conk's.

But it is a great shower soap. I have 40 bars total, 5 of every scent, so should last me awhile.

Rob, do you think it would help if you grated a bar of soap into a bowl?

Actually, I need to buy some more, so I'm going to grate 1/4 of a bar into a bowl and try to lather it.
