    Exclamation Smatchet!!

I just thought I'd shed some light on the knife in my avatar. It's a replica of a WWII knife called a smatchet. It was used by the British commandos and the American O.S.S - forerunner to the C.I.A. Mine was made by Dan Brock @ Plowshare Forge.

They are a handy, useful blade, though i prefer a kukri for most clearing type tasks.

    Very cool!!

I have to admit, the more I watch The Walking Dead the more I think I should have a machete or similar hanging around. I know its stupid and irrational, but somehow it makes sense. I think the biggest think I own is a CETME Bayonet or a Glock knife and they just doesn't have the reach for dealing with Zombies.

I totally agree, from a practical standpoint the kukri is much more useful. The smatchet is essentially an over sized dagger to some degree.

If your main concern is hacking down jungle undergrowth, you probably want a kukri ... if you are more concerned with the Japanese patrols you'll run into from time to time ... smachet.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I personally would take the smatchet. I like Kukri's they just aren't my favorite...

NICE pics of a sweet blade!

Smatchet! Another wonderful tool designed by the duo of Fairbairn-Sykes! Gotta love it!
