Default Feather Artits SS or Kai Captain? (NON-FOLDING)

It was pointed out to me in a previous thread that it is fairer to compair Feather Artits SS or Kai Captain? (NON-FOLDING) than the RG with the Captain.

I had a Feather SS foldable, but it didn't do it for me. I personally found it difficult to manouvre around the contours of my face. I've been told that the non-folding razors are easier to manouvre. Which one of the aforementioned would you recommen?. They are both non-folding and stainless.

    Many thanks

Having not tried the Captain I can't compare, but what I can tell you is that the Feather SS non-folding is fantastic! I've only had two shaves, and only with the pro-guard blades so far, but it's just fantastic. I'm already thinking about offloading every other razor I have!

I think you mean the Feather AC DX. The Feather AC SS has a different shaped head compared to the DX and Excelia.

The Kai Captain is a fantastic, perfect razor, in my estimation. Perfect balance, all stainless construction, handsome yet restrained design that is well suited to the function. Oh yes, and then there's the price -- $130, which is just a little more than HALF of what the comparable Feather DX costs. Now I have received a lot of positive information about the Feather SS, and I might make this my next acquisition, but for the time being, I can recommend the Kai Captain without any reservations.

Regardless of which razor you choose, get the Kai Captain Titan Mild blades. They are "I cannot believe it's not butter" smooth.

Yes, those are the replacement for the blue ones. Your skin will thank you, and you can shave up to 12 times on blade, depending on your beard. I think I stopped at 8 when I had a Feather AC DX.

If you've ever used a Personna Med Prep in the DE World, then you'll know the feeling. Great for sensitive skin.

I have the AC SS folding razor....and I too would like to try a Japanese style. I am currently fighting the urge to buy a Captain Excelia. What is the optimum blade angle like on one of these?

I don't know about the Excelia, but for the regular Kai Captain, it seems to work best if you use a little bit steeper angle (that is, razor closer to parallel to the skin) than if you were using a normal straight razor. The first few times I used mine, I was around 40-45 degrees, and now I try to keep closer to 25-30 degrees, especially on ATG passes. The blade is much, much sharper than the typical straight razor edge, so it is definitely a different skill than normal straight razor shaving.

Ok.....resistance was futile. My new Excelia non folding arrived yesterday. Bought it from the US and I just can't believe the price. 199USD compared to 400GBP over here. When I opened the box.....OMG.....it just drips quality! I will use it over the next few days. This is a beautiful well balanced razor.

Unbelievable.......and I am not even sure that price includes tax. The blade prices are also prohibitive.

I used to offer them to members for about $150 shipped worldwide long before they were sold online by US/Canada sellers. I'd get very few people interested. Now that they're being sold online on this side of the pond, many people are willing to buy them for $199. It's the same thing with the KAI Captain Titan Mild packs. Nobody was offering them in the US/UK/CA (or even using them) until I posted about them. I offered them for $11-$12 per pack, depending on the USD to JPY conversion rate. Few people were interested. I see them being sold for $19 per pack online and people are gladly paying that price.

For 400GBP Keira Knightley better be packed inside the box! It's nice, but not worth that much.

And thanks Telly for providing us with high quality rare products. Had it not been for your Group Buy, I would not have been aware of the Kai Captain Titan Mild blades when I used a Feather AC DX.

No worries. I'm not a vendor. I was just trying to help members save money.
