    Lightbulb popart Gillette design concept/project

    hallo gents,

i don't know if that is the right place to post my project but i need your help. i rent a new huge apartment and i want to paint a huge 1,5mx2m picture. i like painting and i'm a gillette collector. therefore i designed a popart like sketch which i want paint later. it should be modern and colorful. this is my first sketch. at the moment i do not like the font very much.

maybe you have some cool ideas cause i see a lot of creative people in this subforum.
if you are interested i will post later steps of my project =)

    thanks for helping!

    best regards

    Couple of quick thoughts:

I think the font shown in your first post is fine. If you don't like it, does making it bigger (full panel width) while at the same time being more subtle to place it in the background sort of like you have done with King Gillette himself look better/diffferent... But I'm not sure how that would look, or if it will address your aesthetic issue.

For a different idea, create a large image of a double edge razor blade (1,5mx2m). Using either the original King Gillette model as an outline or the more familiar modern day profile. But instead of metallic and shiny might make it more colorful or subdued. And instead of the standard cut-outs down the center of the blade (or notches at the end of the edge) take some liberty to replace those with hearts, diamonds, iron cross, smilely face, etc, whatever is most suitable to your tastes and decor..might look interesting or might be lame.

Whatever you create, I hope you will share the results.

I like it if you like it
Seriously... I LOVE the idea and the concept, and would hand something like that in my place.
Personally, I don't care for the colors or parts of the pattern. I would eliminate the checkerboard over King and maybe do that panel in Sephia to contrast with the colorful other panels.
And I would work a 1st-gen DESR into it. As it is, someone unfamiliar with wetshaving might look at it and think "Was he some artist or director?"
I'd maybe change the font of "Gillette" to one of the standard corporation fonts or even the logo. As long as it's for personal use, you're fine under fair-use... just don't try to sell prints

But like I said... I like it if you like it. I don't have to live with it, you do. If I visit your home, I would enjoy looking at it.

See the attached for an idea on the font...

I think that it looks fantastic as it is. If you can paint that font free-hand, it will be a wonderful poster.

    Thanks for sharing.
