Default Good razor for a newbie

Hi what do you guys suggest?

I started DE shaving about 6 months ago - with an EJ DE89. In all this time I have yet to cut myself and have only had a handful of shaves where I got a weeper. Not sure how this razor has worked for others, but for me, it's been great.

Tech or I found the Merkur 23C a nice transition from disposables.

Go for it!! The R41 has a reputation of being a pretty aggressive razor.

Ah.... Not sure you want to start with something that aggressive for a "first razor". It would be similar to "I never shaved before, I want to start with a straight razor"

You have had some very good suggestions passed to you for a mild beginner's razor. I say beginner, not in a negative way, but you need to develop your DE shaving technique before you move into a razor that demands your full attention without getting hurt. If you start with a razor that could nick you the first time the blade touches your face you may be turned into an electric razor user for life which is no fun at all.

Get a EJ DE89 or Muhle R89, or a Merkur 34C or 23C. They are all VERY good products and will give you close, comfortable, shaves for a very long time. You may be so satisfied with any one of these that you stick with it for the rest of your life.

Just generalizing, but I would definitely recommend the Schick Krona with a Personna Red blade and then move up to a Feather blade when your technique feels right.

For $10.00 to $15.00 you can buy a used Gillette NEW long comb razor. Buy the R41 after you have mastered the NEW.

Lay off the pressure when using any razor.

The Merkur 1904 is my go to DE, and I've tried lots of different ones.
