I find this absolutely sad and it explains why many people are fed up with our government. It's stupid political correctness and corporate lobbying that get in the way. This kind of decision basically spits in the face of every citizen. It makes a mockery of democracy and common sense in the name of campaign contributions.
The scant amount of tomato sauce on school pizza is already considered a vegetable. The bill that was passed put the kibosh on USDA recommendations that would have required a higher amount of tomato sauce in order to be classified a vegetable.

Have a nice day!
Pizza being a vegetable is rather interesting considering tomatoes are a fruit.

Botanically speaking, you are correct. It's actually a berry to be more precise. Despite this, the Supreme Court in the late 19th century declared the tomato a vegetable as a manner of settling a dispute in tariff laws over fruits and vegetables. The Justices knew that the tomato is a fruit, but they went by the predominant nature of it's culinary use, rather than it's botanical classification.
