Gillette's Q and R Date Codes
Are these date codes correct?
Q1: 1971, January-March
R1: 1971, April-June
R2: 1971, July-September
R3: 1971, October-December
Happy shaving, Ramon
Krumholz's book says Q was mistakenly used "an estimated one or two months" in 1971. Presumably, both Q1 and R1 are still first quarter 1971. More like January and February = Q, February and March = R.
Also, a J1 can be either 1963 or 64 for a similar reason.
I've never seen an R-1, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some.
My best guess would be Q-1, R-2, R-3, R-4; all 1971 production.
Some razors had the date code of R R. Check out this http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...Adjustable-R-R
I ran across a JJ the other day. I bet that's about the same thing on the 63/64 error.
