Default Hand Rubbing Before or After Stropping?

When should I hand rub my strop? Before I strop my razor, or after I strop my razor?

I do it before (When I think of it). Warms up the leather a little, gives it some skin oils.

My strop is a RupRazor..Leather/green paste on reverse..his instruction state to rub your palm on your strop before you use it so the natural oils will go on the strop to smooth it out the "rough spots"..I DO notice a difference.

I do it everytime I remember to...before the shave. On my nicer strops the leather seems to beg to be felt so I give it a few laps with the hand. Depending on how the draw is, I sometimes dab one or two tiny drops of oil on my hand prior to the hand rubbing
