Wow! Didn't think I would get such a bitter response. Maybe if you read my other posts you would have realized that I do have a brush I travel with...I just forgot it.

You asked for advice, someone gave it, and you called the option "cheap ass". That sounded bitter, you were bound to get a bitter response in return.

For the record, Daverasi didn't say it's a bad idea to HAVE a cheap brush for travelling, he said he didn't see the point of buying a cheap one WHILE travelling since it would only be used a couple times during that trip.

This is exactly what he said. Quote "cheap ass brush". What I gathered from this is.....There is no way a cheap ass VDH boar is going to sit next to my precious Kent, Simpson, or Shavemac brushes. Simply, he asked for our advise and I gave mine.

    BTW....I'm over it.

You've removed those 3 words completely out of context. The rest of the sentence conveys a much different message.

I would take the soap in the motel and make a lot of lather in my hands and rub it on my face. You might not get the best shave of your life, but in an emergency it will do.

    I've done this.

He'd be better off using straight baby oil or canned goo.

I always bring an expensive a$$ brush (usually 2) with me when I go on vacation. Why should I deprive myself on vacation? If something happened to them, I'd buy new ones. The last time I took a cart and canned goo on vacation, I used them once, threw them in the garbage and didn't shave again until I got home.

FWIW - I certainly meant no offense and apologize if my words offended anyone. I am the proud owned of cheap brushes - mainly an Omega, and am a firm believer in the oft quoted "YMMV" and pass no judgment on anyone...I don't care what you use I just hope you enjoy it...this is a hobby after all!

My OP was simply meant to get some ideas of what others have done when they have forgotten their brushes when away. I suppose I should have specified that I am too cheap to buy a brush that I would only use a few times so making a trip to a drug store to purchase another brush wasn't really an option I considered.

Back home now and have learned my lesson....don't forget the travel brush!

cool- the one bad thing about forums is you cannot always hear "tone" in the text, so you sometimes get misunderstandings you wouldn't get face to face.
