    Default Info on this grelot?

Ive never seen one like this. It seems to have an asymmetric grind with a single stabilizer on only one side. I'm restoring it right now, and it's only up to 80 grit, so it's not shiny yet.

I love it, and think it's going into my rotation, but if anyone knows anything about it, info would be appreciated.

It looks like a microtome. Originally designed for slicing thin sections, but several members have reported good results shaving with them. I am interested to know how it goes.

    It's a microtome.

It definitely is a microtome - I've been passed one to (attempt) to hone. I've a feeling they're generally made of stainless steel too, but I could be wrong

Well then, I have two microtomes now. I have a john barber microtome that I just won on ebay coming. I like the asymmetry, it's slight, but enough to make it interesting

And it takes a nice shine too

    Thanks

What are you using to restore it? Sandpaper too?

Sand it to 600 grit, then just a dremel with some felt wheels and buffing compounds

Yeah, I have about a 1.5 sq foot clearing, and sandpaper and tools piled up all around. There's just never enough space
